The $31790+ $299 DOC + Tax=OTD. I got the 2.9% which they said Honda required that I prepay the state tax ( I was an out of state buyer) normally paid at local DMV. I was willing to travel and did not limit my search to any geographical area. Prior to this deal I was hot on Riverisde Honda in McAlester, OK. Both dealerships where great to work with! Noticed Ebay has several EXL and Touring models available at a competive price.

Dulney - dealer cost on the 7yr/100,000 with $0 deductible is $1,050 (I saw the book after I paid $1,225 for it).

I think it just depends on whether you can get an additional 500 off. I went into the showroom, very resolute to walk out if he did not come close to invoice. I actually got up, put my jacket and started walking out, but of-course he got me to stop, wait and then wait some more, each time taking 100 to 200off. I think around the 4th time or so, I got tired, and agreed. So much for my resolve.

I too was worried about other fees like excessive doc fees etc. but they were good. Nothing sneaky once I agreed to the price, and it was a good experience from then on.

Good Luck

Algernon,

If you really want to wait for a better deal, I suspect there will be a number of demo RES/NAVs for sale around June. It seems that Honda has given each dealer (in my area, at least) a RES/NAV demo (most got theirs in December), which they are prohibited from selling for 6 months. I have no idea what kind of break you would get on a demo at that time; perhaps by then production will have caught up with demand and the dealers will be content to keep the demos until August/September.

Auburn Honda gave me a quote for $25,700. I was going to grab at the deal, but they didn't have the color I wanted. I gave this qoute to local Sac dealers and they would say, "We can't justify giving an Ody to you at that price." I kept trying and ended up giving the qoute to Yuba City Honda. They were happy to BEAT the quote and sold it to me AT INVOICE, $25,527. However, I believe there were dealer incentives going on at that time. They may have expired by now.

Even though Ody's are the going minivan, I was not willing to pay anything close to the MSRP. Even $1500 off seemed like a rip off. I saved close to double that.

My recommendation...if the dealers are unwilling to come down right now...just be patient for awhile.

recently, my family just bought a brand new ody's from Honda of Slidell. i thought we had a pretty good deal on it. well, the price we negociated isn't always the price we end up paying. we ended paying almost 500 extra dollars. at first they told me they ONLY gonna charge 285 for dealer fee and all the required goverment fees. they left license and sales tax empty. we know how much the sales tax is gonna be, but we was confused about the license fee, becuase we already see a $54 for tag. but the sales people told it would only be like $12. well, after we sign the first paper, they printed out another paper with all the fees on it again and it all changed. they actually charged me, besides the $285 dealer's fee(which they said is all they charge),there is another document fee of $34. and they even charge me for the temporary tag. 34 dollars are not a lot, but i felt i was cheated. and they were dishonest. i hate that.

No! No! No! "The time is now". unless for financial reasons. You want the dealers to compete for your business. Believe me that takes time. You can be negotiating now with different dealerships(let them know that you are a serious buyer)"that will get their attention". Before you know it your van can be delivered by March,or you can be driving one home sooner. Trust me if you start doing your homework now, it'll pay off later.

Hi lzk

After seeing your post of last week, I also tried very hard to get the 500 + invoice deal. However, I could not succeed (over phone though) and eventually walked out (went to another dealer) of the deal.

Philadelphia Honda people would not budge from the invoice plus 1000 dollars. When I told him someone from the NG had got the 500 + invoice deal, he said it was 31948 - trade in value and trade in was 500. So, it looked like it was 31448 (500 + invoice).

Anyway, thanks to you I found out that we could get it for that price.

Thanks
