You can try Grainger Honda in Savannah,Ga. Great people to work with,I made them come down to invoice in 1 day. Don't see too many Honda Odyssey's around this area, mostly Siennas.'I seen alot of Odysseys sitting on dealers lots around here.

Dealers Keep Calling me!!! (SoCal) by s2000fever

Received a call from Buena Park Honda (SoCal)(a Sonic dealership) today. I already told them 3 weeks ago that I took delivery on an EXL Nav/Res. This was a different salesman. He told me he had 8 units arriving/coming in and wanted to unload them: LX, EX, EXL, EXL Res, & Touring Nav/Res but NO EXL Nav/Res. He confirmed that the EXL Nav/Res was the hardest vehicle to locate in SoCal. He asked what I paid and I deferred to what others were paying. I told him that I am seeing no more than $2K over invoice for the EXL Nav/Res in SoCal and a bit better on the Touring Nav/Res on these boards. Much lower prices elsewhere in the county. He indicated that he thought $500 under window sticker was a hot price and I proceeded to tell him that he was way off. I then told told him that if I knew of anyone looking for a van, I would refer them to him. His response was "God Bless You" and it wasn't because I had sneezed. He really sounded somewhat dejected when he heard that I had already found the exact vehicle that I was looking for. So, if anyone in SoCal is looking for one the vehicles mentioned above, since this guy sounded somewhat desperate, you may want to try this dealership. Their web site lists inventory on hand but who knows how accurate these things are. I didn't buy my car from this dealer but, like I told the dealers when I'm shopping, I'm not looking to build a long-term friendship with my sales person. I just want the car of my choice at the lowest price. Like they said in the Godfather, "nothing personal, just business."

Best time to buy? by cnew21

I'm new to the forums and have just started to gather information. My family is considering an EX-L. This will be the 3rd car I have ever bought and the first new car. I'm really excited to gather information from this site and these forums and get a good deal.

I was just wondering if there is a certain time of year when dealerships offer better deals? What about day of month?

Thanks!

cnew21, glad you found these boards. We bought an Ody last month and I can tell you flat out that these boards and a post I saw here saved my family almost $2K.

Take some time to browse through the threads that might be relevant to you (by van model, for instance). Start about October of 2004, for the best stuff on new models. Then post specific questions in the appropriate threads. Lots of people here are very helpful.

Was able to negotiate, fairly painlessly, for an Ody EX-L (Ocean Mist) at $28,600 + TTL (yes, this also includes destination). The dealer is McDavid Honda of Houston.

I'm sure it's not the cheapest I COULD have gotten it, but I felt I was treated fairly and they had what I wanted in stock.

The strategy I used was locating, via Honda's website, all the Honda dealers in my area (centered around Austin) and then visiting EACH dealer's website to examine their inventory. Many dealer's didn't list colors; they didn't get my business as I was able to locate several dealer's who did have what I was seeking (either Ocean Mist or Midnight Blue) in stock. I then e-mailed each dealer who had the van in stock with my offer. I based my offer on dealer's ACTUAL cost for the van (which I calculated as invoice - 3% holdback on the manufacturer's MSRP) and then offered a 'fair' profit over that figure.

Obviously, what is 'fair' is going to vary widely from buyer to buyer and dealer to dealer. But, if you include all calculations in your e-mail, so the dealers internet rep understands how the offer number was arrived at, you should have much better luck with responses.

I hope this was helpful.
