Tried contacting Honda Windward in Kaneohe by email indicating I was interested in purchasing the 2005 Odyssey EX-Cloth. Using the contact page on their website, I did receive a same-day response, however I was immediately referred to the "finance department" and was offerred an APR rate. No price or specific information was provided. Basically, going the email route is not very productive here in the Islands compared to some other posts for other areas I've seen mentioned in this forum. More later...

Buying Touring in Northern Virginia by dulnev

I'm having my 2005 Touring edition delivered to my home tomorrow. We decided to get one without NAVI and DVD for two reasons: cost and availability. We'd have to wait for 3 months for our Slate Green/with Olive interior, if we wanted to get one with NAV/RES.

Dealers in Northern Virginia still price close to MSRP so I shopped around within 2-4 hour drive and easily found several dealers in Maryland and PA that could sell Touring WITH NAVI/RES for $1,500 over invoice ($2,700 off MSRP). But our deal on the Touring without NAVI/RES is even sweeter: $800 over invoice.

As I said, the car is being delivered to our house tomorrow free of charge. So EAT THIS NOVA dealers!

We're getting a Panasonic 9" overhead DVD system with built-in DVD player from Circuit City for $850 installed and I'm buying an aftermarket NAV system (Magellan RoadMate 700) for $800. This saves us a total of over $2,500 over Touring with NAV/RES.

We're also buying a Hondacare Platinum extended warranty for 7 years/100K miles with 0 deductible for the cut-rate price of $1,075!

Once our car is delivered and everything is done to my satisfaction, I will post the name of the dealership.

I think it depends on what you are looking for. If you want an EXL w/ NAVI & RES, forget about it. There's nothing out there. I just sent a fax Monday to 35 SoCal dealers and got jack in return -- and either "No availibility" or a quote for MSRP from those who bothered responding. If you want a stripped down Touring, then that's probably another story.

I can't for the life of me understand how Honda America's marketing department missed the boat on that one.

Got confused here, are you talking about EX-L with RES/NAV, then the invoice should be $30449+515(destination), which is $30964. From which dealer did you get this price? I am looking for an EX-L, and right now I can only get something around $29K+tax for driving-out without any add-ons, and I think this is not a good deal at all.

sorry for the late reply due to family emergency for last 2 weeks...ok..here is how I did it
1)go to http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/citytown_zip.jsp and look for the farest city you want to purchase your vehicle from and get the zip code.
2) open a spam e-mail account from yahoo or hotmail that u can communicate with potential dealerships
3) go to Edmuds.com and get the "free price quote" from different dealerships based on the zip code you got from (1)
3a) study the car well from the Honda web site and get info from here...e.g recalls from the vehicle so it doesn't mean Honda is always a perfect car....
4) go to differnt dealerships and get a feel how hot the vehicle is in the market. While you walk into the dealship, talk to the front desk girl only with no eye contact with any car sale person(j/k)and ask for the fleet/internet dept. Talk to people in those dept ONLY and some may have the list of what model/color from other dealership in their state or net work.
5) at this time your may already got some quote through e-mail, try use the quotes and start negotiating some better deal.
6) go to http://automobiles.honda.com/# and use the dealer locator and use the zip u got from (1) and call as many internet managers as you want to negotiate the price you want base on the reference you got on hand through e-mails and all the previous talks.
7) Ask for what they have in stock or in transit within a week that match your expectation only, no trade in with other dealership(we can get one from other dealership<<<NoNONO!! I just go where they have what I want--more bargaining power) 8) go to www.hondaautomotiveparts.com http://www.handa-accessories.com/ http://www.hondiscountparts.com/ or some other sites by searching Google and get an idea how much you want to use the extra parts to negotiate your deal or pay for one. Some dealer may let u buy your only "genuine" part from other sources and install for free and some will blar blar blar "we have to talk to the service dept manager" or " it will void the warranty".... well it it is up to you to continue to deal with them...anything is possible and it is always negotiable. following is my experiences for my 2005 exl d&n with following dealerships: 1) SF Honda(30min)--asked for internet dept, they close 5pm and deal with 2 sale manager n 1 sales assitant, talked to the GM and sale at MSRP only. 2) Serramonte Honda(20min)-- MSRP but not in stock 3) Grace Honda(10min)-- claimed that they don't have internet sale dept n refused to take me to fleet dept., MSRP but nothing in stock 4)Mike Harvey(15min)--bad experience--2 internet sales manager, one will sale MSRP the short one will sell little below MSRP. Got a call 3 days later from one and claimed the car is in, reconfirmed the model I wanted thru phone and by the time I got there it was a EXL "ONLY"(5min) ... left... true innocent or plain lie is your call. 5) PaloAlto Anderson(15min)--fleet dept is in the other building from the Sales floor. $500 below MSRP was offered. Black color that time and Sage for Demo only 6) Marine Honda-- the price is the lowest in my e-mail replies from the first few days...$32558, but sure they sell fast and don't have the color(Slate green, Silver) I want 7)Carmichael Honda-$34200 8)AutoWest Honda-$34610+fee..with beat local competitor by $200 9) Hansel Honda Petuluma-..will sell for $2200 over invoice, but the time I contact him, $500 was add to the negotiated price...didn't have the color I want(Silver) 10)San Leandro Honda--bad experience--offered me $31910 and confirmed thru e-mail several times, at the moment of truth claimed he can't offer the EXL D&N with that quote...real pain! 11) Auburn Honda-- Sincere dealership $32558 but do not have color(white) I want 12) Yuba City Honda-- will sell $32358 but nothing in stock 13)Elk Grove Honda(30 min)--will sell $32410+ doc n fee and here's my money goes!! EXL D&N Brush Sage... I will deal with Elk Grove Honda or Marine Honda again if the price is right and get the color I want in the future! got my Honda Care 100/7 with 0 deductible for $1350. I knew there was a reader here got it for $1200... but heck..it was late that night (10pm) and getting tired of more negotiation. put this "rl3875kw" in google search n u may see some inventories from some dealerships. My price may not be the lowest but hopfully it is not the highest also.. but I got what I want at the time frame that I had (1 week)and prevented the entertainment through dealing with those sales managers on the floor. one thing that everyone need to beware is some dealerships have tendency to ask you to fill out a financial statment n then ran a credit check on you even you are not financining or buying from them....do not know why but I know everytime whoever pull your credit report will lower your credit score. Good Luck to all n Great forum! cheers!

I picked up our '05 Odyssey EX-L today at Middletown Honda. Everything went very well. The finance girl tried to stick me with the $99 window etching again. I made her do over the numbers until it was right as agreed upon with the sales manager. Once she checked with sales manager the numbers were corrected to my satisfaction without incident. Upon inspection there was a very small chip in the paint on the lower front facia. The salesman sent his car prep man with touch up paint immediately. That was the only defect I could find. Everything else was perfect. The salesman spent considerable time going over all the gadgets and features with us. He was very patient as we had our screaming 3-month old baby with us. Overall I'm very pleased. I think I got a great deal on a great Minivan. I was treated very well after we had our final agreement on price. Final numbers:
$28,000 '05 EX-L Slate Green Olive interior
$15,300 '04 Accord EX 4dr Manual 19,406 miles Good condition.
$1047.75 NYS sales Tax (8.25% on $12,700)
$45.00 Doc Fee
$33.50 Plates and Registration
$12.50 NYS Tire Waste
$10.00 NYS Inspection
2.9% financing through AHFC 48 months

And yes, this is a real deal, no BS as someone on the boards suggested. I don't think I would have gotten this price on the van if my trade wasn't involved. They'll profit $2-$3K on my Accord easily. I also think my timing was lucky. I started the week before Christmas when everyone is shopping for everything except cars. This probably helped me some as dealerships and salesman are desperate to make sales for the end of the month and end of the year. This week the dealerships are very busy. It may be tougher to get a good deal this week.

Good Luck everyone!
-Jeff
