I'll often hear..." I read on the internet where someone paid XXXX for a new EX Odyssey" or..." A friend only paid XXXX" There are the "prices paid" that make little sense but just maaaaay have happened" Then there are the impossible ones.

I had a dealer tell me last night that Honda is going to be cutting Odyssey production by 33% going forward. Has anyone else heard this? The dealer was telling me that he expected supply to be limited for some time because of this. I've been trying to get an EXL with a particular ext & int color. The EXL seems to be in short supply.

Of course, I understand the difference between a price claimed to have been paid here and actual invoice pricing available across the internet (Edmunds, Carsdirect, etc.)....

Hello all, On November 26, 2005 I purchased an 05 Odyssey EX - L - RES for $30,700 from Baytown Honda. The price include destination charge but does not include Tax, Title, or License fees. I sent out 15 email to 15 different Honda Dealerhhip surrounding Houston, on 11/24/04. It took Baytown 10 minutes to respond to my email offer. Two other dealership agreed to my price offer of $30,700 for said model but Baytown Honda agreed to the price first so they got the sale. The other two dealership are Gillman Honda and McDavid Honda. The other 12 dealership either did not reply or only offered $1,000 below MSRP. FYI - My price offer is halfway between MSRP and Dealer Invoice. In other words, it is roughly $1,700 below MSRP or $1,700 above Dealer Invoice. PS. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy said van from one of the other two dealership because they offer service perks that Baytown Honda does not. Please see their respective website for more details. Thanks to Edmunds.com and posters for their comments and insights. Last, but not least, I am buying the 7/100/0 Honda Care Warranty from Dick Brooks Honda for $1089. Good luck everyone and have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season. |

maybe they will cut production in December due to the holidays, but I can't believe they are selling so poorly that they would go from +/- 180K units to 120K. I believe they do share the plant with the Pilot and the new trucklet thingee, so that could eat in production. My local dealers seem to have a decent supply level (20+ that i could find), so this isn't 1998 all over again, but they still supposedly are selling. I actually got a call yesterday from the local guy that the model/color we decided on was now in stock. Might have to go check it out. |
