My new Touring by sgarabedian

Since the discussion on the Touring is going hot and heavy, I wanted to add my two cents worth. I picked up my Silver Touring with Gray leather without DVD or NAV from Ed Voyle Honda in Marietta, GA for $32300 OUT THE DOOR (without taxes, which I will pay here in Tennessee). They charged me $750 over invoice plus $400 as their "standard" documentation fee. The vehicle came with a few extras thrown in like mud guards and window etching. I feel that I did save a good $3000. I do believe the Touring without NAV/RES are not in high demand, sitting on the lots, and thus dealers are willing to negotiate. My local dealer in Jackson, TN has about 5 or 6 on the lot and he still is unwilling to deal, thus they sit there and collect dust. Everyone is entitled to their opinions obviously, and everyone has specific needs/wants. There are some awesome features on the Touring that were must haves for my family, like the adjustable drive pedals (my wife's 4'11"), power lift gate (my wife's 4'11"), awesome looking wheels with the safety feature included. PAX is new, so the discomfort of most people is understandable. I'm sure that's how most people felt when they took the "inner tubes" out of tires 40+ years ago. I don't care if I have to pay a bit extra, but I sure as heck don't want my wife and one year old daughter stranded somewhere in a dark, rainy, cold night. Being able to drive 120 miles on a "flat" PAX wheel as absolutely awesome. I know that even I might have a difficult time changing the wheel on a 4500 pound vehicle; I know my wife can't and wouldn't. It's my insurance plan to get my family home safely. The other features about PAX that people don't realize is that you are less likely to lose control of the vehicle when a tire blows, remember the delimma with the Ford Explorers in recent years. It also improves handling of the vehicle compared to the 16 inch wheels. I'm not trying to sell the Touring to anyone, or justify my decision; but fair is fair. Honda took a leap in unchartered territory. They are allowed to do that and we the consumers are given an opportunity to try something new. I guarantee you their engineers studied this before sinking all the money and commitment to such a new system. I applaud them for their courage to break the rules an veer off the beaten path.
By the way, anyone want to buy a 2001 BMW 325i with 43K miles on it!!!! My wife loves the Honda and isn't looking back.

iliadna,

It is interesting that Bedard allowed you to put your deposit on CC. I was told I had to send a check for $500, that due to past practices cc's were no longer acceptable. Since we completed this transaction during the same week, I wonder why I was told this. I would have prefered to use cc.

I totally agree. We live in a rurual area - about 75 miles away from the nearest small city, and it is quite reassuring to know that my wife and child can make it safely back in case of an unexpected flat. Also, the bigger and cooler PAX wheels (about 17-18 inches compared to 16 inches on EX and LX) are a big bonus to the male ego

Stay away from Brooklyn. I spent 4 hours there. We agreed to my trade in price and 1000 off MSRP. As soon as the salesman started paper work manager showed up and told me that my trade in is now 1000 less and 05 Ody is 500 more. No respect for his own salesman or it was a game all along.

Conventional run-flats provide all of the same benefits and peace-of-mind as PAX system, without the costly proprietary technology.

RES = Rear Entertainment System...you'll get that coupled with DVD Nav I believe...others can correct me on that last part if I'm wrong
RES as the name indicates is a dvd system for the rear seats. It does not however come with the Navigational system. You need to go with a higher trim (EX-L RES+NAV) to get the nav. This gives you an additional display screen upfront on the dash (w/ rear view camera feature). But you can't see the dvd picture on the front screen on the Odys (on Siennas you can if the car is in park).

Great People to work with!!!

Vehicle already was ordered, and coming to stock in December, so they gave me $ 500 Over Invoice. Price with shipping is $ 31643. Dealer Processing $199.

They are 5 hours away but well worth it since Hall Honda in Virginia Beach quoted with the bogus window etching, 35510 for same Van, to 31643 Duncan Honda and further reduction in dealer processing fees of another $100. So the savings is well worth a 5 hour drive. Almost $ 4, 000 difference.

For OdyClub Members + Edmunds Forum Members

EX no leather and Touring without options $ 500 -$ 1000 above invoice.

EXL and Touring DVD/NAV $ 1500 - $ 2000 off MSRP depending on colors, availability, etc, etc.

Hope this helps.

Internet Manger is great to work with. Sorry can’t give name.

Well, I would've looked at the sticker if it were on the car when I got there, but they had already prepped it for me before I got there.

But, yes, you're right. They didn't put a gun to my head. However, I had already signed the contracts the week before I actually took delivery.

I was pretty exhausted from the whole experience which is probably why I just accepted it.

The survey I receive from Honda will definitely reflect the kind of service I received from this dealership, the sales people, and their managers.
