Replying to: buckeyehutch (Nov 04, 2004 1:38 pm) Sunnyside Honda in Middleburg Heights (Cleveland) gave quotes at MSRP, but quickly matched the Boardman quote. The internet guy is very straightforward. When the sales manager was told that Boardman was discounting that much, he sarcastically said "Boardman would." I hope he was just ticked that Boardman was discounting as usual, and not that they usually play games. But since he matched the price, I think it is real. Sunnyside had a Silver Pearl Touring R&N in stock that I was considering. Even though the black leather was tempting, I couldn't justify the extra $4,000-$4,500. I wasn't sold on the PAX tires, and with three kids and lots of young cousins and friends, I actually preferred having the small 8th seat in the EXL. |

I recently requested a price quote from the Honda website from this dealership. The following was cut-and-pasted from the email I received: "I am comitted to making your car buying experience affordable, efficient and enjoyable. I can also tell you that the Internet quote price is not the "Best Price". The "Best Price" I give is when the customer is sitting in front of me." First of all, run your email through spell-check idiot! You spelled "committed" wrong! Second, this bozo should check their homepage. It says: "To get the best price please send an E-mail to our Internet Manager". He's already said in his email that he will not give you the "best price" unless you're sitting in front of him. The whole purpose in Internet sales is to avoid this whole 3-4 hour ordeal of "haggling" for the "best price". I really wish American Honda would provide their dealers with specifications on what exactly "Internet Certified" actually means. Can't they understand that we don't want to sit in a dealership for 3-4 hours to get a price on a car. It should be as simple as "Here is the price" period!

| I forgot to mention that this dealer NEVER did give me a "best price" quote... | |

| I just got an email from Friendly Honda in Clinton Township offering an additional $1,000 off the price they previously quoted. Unfortunately, I don't remember what that price was. Probably close to MSRP, but at least now they are willing to deal more. | |

Replying to: dv8tor (Nov 04, 2004 3:03 pm) I requested a price via email and got the standard verbiage, "Hello, my name is X, I am the Honda Internet Sales manager and want to make your buying experience a pleasure. Blah .. Blah Blah". No price was given. I go in to the dealership and he tells me that the salesmen on the floor are getting $1000 over MSRP, but he will sell it at MSRP. I left. However, the trip was well spent because it was my first test drive. I have to say the van I drove was somewhat disappointing. I heard severe wind noise at approx. 50 mph. The engine shifted smoothly but engine noise was louder than expected, especially after reading about Active Noise Cancellation (ACN). The internet manager did state that he sold a car a week earlier with the same problem and "the service department knows how to fix it". How does one obtain accurate pricing info without physically visiting every dealer? Are there dealers in North FL. South GA. area willing to give a "best price" through an email? |
