Just wanted to inform some SoCal buyers about this dealership. If you've got a trade, WATCH OUT!!! These guys were offering me $2000. LESS than what everyone else has offered me on my trade. Everyone else is what KBB is booking my vehicle at as a trade. I don't know what Power Honda Costa Mesa was using, but I think they were just looking to cash in on both ends of the deal! Do they honestly think that we're all that stupid??? Not to mention that they were still $1000 ABOVE MSRP on the Odyssey. When I get my new Odyssey, I'm going to drive over there just to rub it in their faces!

I will say this about Honda - although their warranty is not the best around, they did stand behind their product ('99 Ody) when the transmission failed just out of warranty at 40K. And that was before there was a generally (or at least publicly) recognized problem with the Ody transmission.

Wonder if somebody could help lead me to a good dealer in South Florida. I'm only getting MSPR quotes. I don't mind driving 3 or 4 hours to find the best deal. Any ideas? Thanks!

My absolute break limit was $2k for a warranty - above that no way. But since I'm saving money from a lower interest rate than I expected to pay, I threw in the dealer warranty. I suppose I could have saved $700 with the nondealer warranty, but it was a wash overall. Having owned 2 other new cars over the prior year-and-a-half has convinced me that while a car may be reliable and run for many years - the new electronic gadgets, auto doors, seat heaters (A new car of mine actually burned a hole through the seat from the seat heater), etc. are prone to breaking. I would bet money that I will break even or save money by spending a $2k for the warranty. I see it as setting aside money for repairs. I for one recommend extended warranties on new cars. Late on Friday night, I decided that I wanted my wife to have her new van which we had been waiting for for 6 weeks and to move beyond the incessant fretting over "best" deals and to round out our new car with a good warranty. We were so satisfied with the color, feel, and accessories of our van. She has been all smiles ever since. |
