Replying to: rubie (Oct 31, 2004 6:03 pm) I have inked a deal with Bedard for an 05 exl with dvd & nav. $950 over invoice, $50 doc fee. Everything seems to be on the up and up so far. Won't be ready until mid November, but that's not a problem for me. The Sales manager seems to be a straight shooter. Of course, this is all theoretical right now because I have not actually picked up the car. So, all I can say is so far so good. What I can say for sure is that I could'nt sniff this price in NY/NJ. I have no problem driving 3 hours to save the money. I'll post again after my next contact with them. |

This is a repost of my message with the name ommitted. I wanted to repost this message as I feel that SoCal buyers should be aware of this guy. From what I'm gathering, he may already be gone as the email I receive from Hardin Honda no longer includes his name as one of their Internet Sales "Managers". Buyers beware one of the guys in Internet Sales at Hardin Honda. The guy just wants to get you in the door even though he does not have the car nor is it allocated to them! I basically called most, if not all, local dealers in SoCal to find out who has or who is getting the Ody in the color I want, so I knew this much. He calls and leaves me a message saying "I have great news about the Ody you're looking for". So, I call up. First of all, he doesn't know me from Joe. He says, what are you looking for? I said an Ody, trim this, color that. Punches a few keys and says we don't have it, but I can get it. All I need you to do is come in and put in a $500. deposit. I said, so, "you guys are getting it in?" His response, "yea, we'll get it in a couple of days". So, I probe deeper. "So, you have an allocation due to you in a couple of days?" His response, "no, but i can pull from our general bank". What BS is he trying to pull here??? As far as I know, each dealer gets an allocation. If they have a customer come in and wants a different color and/or trim, they've gotta trade either what they got or what they're expecting to get. Needless to say, I won't be buying my vehicle from this bozo! |

In Virginia Beach, prices are at MSRP to $ 500 Below, except for dealers like Hall, who add on bogus "Window Etching" to their pricing. They are so behind in catching up to their emails, and since I can be patient I can get a great price. Honda Odyssey is an excellent Van, but not at MSRP or higher. Too many good vans out there. |

Save your money. Dealer "add ons", are just a way of Dealer making profit. Pure and simple. After all, isn't Honda supposed to be reliable?

Yet I'll bet money that without a bumper-to-bumper extension, I would have otherwise spent $2k (I spent 2K on an extended warranty) or more during the upcoming 7 years and 100k on the vehicle. I'll sleep tight about my car for at least the next 7 years.

My wife and I have settled on the '05 Touring model. We DO NOT want RES and NAV. Some have suggested that we may be able to deal a little bit for this model since it is not one of the "hot" Ody combinations. I'd love to hear about any recent Ohio purchases and what kind of deal you got! Thanks!!
