If you are looking for a Odyssey EXL w/RES try Honda Of Pocatello...! I just got a EXL for $1700 below MSRP. Read my previous post about my shopping story.

Extended Warrenty? by pazman1

Hello,

I just purchased a new '05 Exl w/Res from a dealer in Renton, Wa. I have not received the vehicle yet (2weeks) but I did process all the paperwork. I bought their extended warrenty with a $50 deductible for 6yrs or 75k. They charged me around $1300 for this. Having not bought an extended warrenty before I am not sure if this is a good value or not.

Anyone have a suggestion as to whether or not I should keep this? Thanks,

Thanks KVM for sharing your purchase adventure.
I use http://www.vtec.net/dealers/
to locate Honda dealers, is there a better tool?

Try www.honda.com and click on "locate a dealer" that is in the upper right hand corner. That's what I used to locate the dealers that were near me.

Congrats! I am happy for you. Maybe you can put that extra money on a family vacation or something of that sort.

I don't think you can include the phone number. Good deal though. When did you order? McGrath wasn't coming down that much a few weeks ago, but they did seem more willing to deal than others in Chicago.

Since you're free to buy this warranty from any dealer at any time during the original factory warranty period, I'd wait. Unless you need to roll the cost of the warranty into your vehicle financing to afford it, I'd first make sure you like the van and are going to keep the van. $1,300 seems expensive for the marginal additional coverage you're getting beyond the base factory warranty. I paid less than $800 for Toyota's 7-year/100K/zero warranty. If you really want the extended coverage, I'd threaten to take advantage of the cancellation period unless the dealer lowers the price.
