Discounted ODYS from Canada? by billiebird

Read in earlier msgs. (#6527) re. Bedard Bros. Honda in Mass. offering 05 Odys at $950 above invoice. Checked it out and it's true. However, my local Honda dealer says it's probably a Canadian vehicle and thus will NOT have a U.S. warranty. My dealer is near Detoit and says some folks moved to Det. from Canada with their Canadian warranty and it can't be honored in the U.S. Also, Mass. is a different region and dealers around here are sticking with MSRP. Would appreciate any comments.

Honda USA won't honour Canadian Odysseys imported to the US, absent special circumstances.

Should be easy enough to verify the VIN with the Mass dealer, eh?

SF area EX-L w/ Nav and DVD by odymomof3

We bought a silver EX-L with Nav and DVD over the weekend and are extremely happy with it. We went through the internet department at Honda of El Cerrito (half hour from San Francisco), and negotiated a price before we ever saw the van. Probably could have waited and got a better deal, but I was anxious to get it. We paid $500 under MSRP. Break down was $34,210, plus $45 doc fee, $2483.49 tax, $278 license fee, $5 tire fee, $28 elec fee. Total out the door $37049.49. Funny how on a purchase this expensive it ends up being the sales tax that bugs me:)

To those of you considering Bedard Bros Honda in Mass. I can give you my highest recommendation to do business with them. I picked up a new '05 slate green Odyssey EX from them on friday Oct. 22 and am home here in Ohio enjoying my new flawless ride. I exchanged a couple of e-mails with them, one phone call, a couple of overnight mails to handle the paperwork and I flew in and was met at the airport by the dealerships driver and three hours later was driving home. Very nice people to deal with and everything on the up and up. By far my easiest car buying experience ever! $950.00 over invoice. $50.00 doc fees. Full American warranty. (post 6558) My Cleveland,OH area dealers still think it is 1999 again and are still trying to get full MSRP. I love the way the internet levels the playing field!

Good dealer / price - Western PA by sepa

I recommend Bianchi Honda, Erie, PA. They are a large Western PA dealer with a large monthly allottment. Just ordered an '05 Ocean Mist EX-L, priced $1000 above invoice. I will have to travel out there to pick it up, but price (savings) made it well worth it (Phila. area dealers all "coindentally" and "independently" locked in at MSRP, with varying amounts of standard dealer add-ons). Contact me for the good sales guy info via email.

Good to see you did so well. However, see post #6552 (which references Jay Honda in Cleveland) - it appears as though you could have avoided the trip to MA.

Bryan, sorry I was not clear. The Northern California dealer is offering the car at $1K below MSRP. However, the money factor (interest rate) is higher and the residual amount remaining (what the car may be worth at lease end) is lower than a local dealer who will sell the car to me for MSRP but give me a lower (better) money factor and a higher residual amount. The bottom line is that the monthly payments are not all that different. That is why I have not jumped at the Northern California deal as yet. But I am still working on it.

This is part of the reply from the sales mgr from Jay in my last e-mail from him..."The 2005 Odysseys are better than ever before. Many dealers are getting
thousands over the sticker price. Our philosophy is to sell them for the
suggested retail and not add any dealer charges. We are Ohio's volume
leader and check our prices regularly against our competitors.
I'd be happy to discount an Odyssey a few hundred dollars just to show that
I'm not being stubborn."....I guess the good deals must be on the cars they put up for E-bay auction only. By the way according to their website inventory they have 19 '05 Odysseys gathering dust on their lot.
