vshah, "I just wonder if there is collusion or a few people owning most of the Honda dealerships in this area. I count it towards experience, but the car is so good that I am willing to overpay to get it sooner" True dealer collusion is highly unlikely, since it is illegal. If multiple dealerships have the same owner, it is not unreasonable that all of those dealerships would have identical or similar pricing policies. More likely, supply and demand are at work. Many urban and large suburban centers have a limited supply of Odysseys relative to comparably higher demand than at dealerships located in less-populated areas. In fact, I think you validate this in part by your statement that you are "willing to overpay to get it sooner". It doesn't take more than a handful of people with the same sentiment to justify an MSRP-only policy on the part of a dealership. |

I test drove a touring with NAVI. I was very impressed with the NAVI and am interested in buying an EX-L with NAVI. Anyone in Sacramento area negotiated under MSRP? I have had informal discussions and MSRP seems to be the going rate. |

| Bought a 2005 Odyssey EXL thru the internet department at Carey Paul Honda (Snellville, Ga.)and had a very good experience. The gave me a price that was lower than the MSRP and there were no changes once I got there. This is the second Odyssey I bought thru the internet at this dealership and had good service both times. Tried another dealer but price changed once I got there. If anybody wants to be treated right try them. | |
After having bought 7 Odys ( 1 each year and 6 from the same dealer all at MSRP) for my 2006 I think I will go elsewhere come this Sept. Snellville is only 55 miles from my home. This year I called Gwinett Place Honda' and they wanted $900 over MSRP with some useless addons and had the nerve to tell me this was a good price since other dealers in central Ga. were charging $1800 over MSRP. I would like to know how much under MSRP you paid and what was the documentation fee? I paid $399 this year and $299 in the years before that. Let me know if your price included destination. Good luck with your new Ody. Hope next year Navigation only is an option on the EX-L. Honda can keep their touring model, Its bad enough to pay sticker but the additional $4000 is not worth it.

Picked up and drove my Sage Brush/Olive EX-L w/DVD & NAVI 300 miles home. What a pleasure. Hit a few traffic snag, spoke to the NAVI to get a detour, and it worked great. Anyway the dealer was very no nonsense and a nice guy. I asked for MSRP-500, no BS fees, he said fine, no haggle, took a credit card, and I picked up the car. He took his time "teaching" me the car, and he also gave me accessories at cost. There was no upselling of other stuff, and no "I gotta talk to the manager" crap. Highly recommeded, even if you have to drive a bit. I rented an avis car one-way to pick it up. Dealer was Valley Honda in Monroeville,PA (about 10mi east of Pittsburgh). Contact me for the decent sales guy info via email.

Auto Club and Costco offer special pricing for most cars, however, not for the Odessey. Carsdirect.com still has Odyssey $2K over MSRP. Edmunds TMV is at MSRP which is consistent with the few local dealers I spoke with. Found $1K under MSRP at a Northern California dealer. Hoping to get a dealer down here to match or beat that price. We will be leasing and so far have found a variance in money factors and security deposit amounts. The search continues.... Has anyone recently closed a deal in the LA area that would volunteer the numbers?

First of all thanks to edmunds.com (I don't work for them) and the members who post here for sharing their experiences. After what seems likes weeks of reading, test driving, and endless emails, phone calls, and haggling We purchased a 2005 Honda Odyessy Touring Silver Pearl (base model) w/Gray Leather Interior from Renton Honda for $35010 (includes dest. fee) (includes Carpet Mats, Wheel Locks, 3rd row Sunshades, supposed value over $1K)+ 200 " Doc Fees" + WA Tax I would recommend that people keep pushing thier Honda dealers and don't pay the "Market Adjustment" On the car we got they had advertised $2K markup over MSRP. Also, I put the $3500 down on a credit card with 2% rebate so that's another $700, I'll see at the end of the year. There were other dealers further away willing to go lower (upto $500 off MSRP) but would not deliver until End of November or December.
