Hidy Honda was one of the worst offenders back when the 99 and 00 Odys were in short supply. I am glad that you made a deal that you were fine with but that's is the exactly the type of dealership that gives automobile sales a bad name.

When we were looking at the Sienna, I spoke with a salesperson who worked at White something or other dealership in downtown Dayton back when the Ody madness was at its peak. She told me some stories that were just brutal about Hidy.

I knew of them from reading about them and their tactics on these boards. Hope you made out really well on your trade to offset paying sticker.

I truly understand what you say. I held for over 4 weeks, but I managed to wreck both my cars and I decided I am better off buying the car I want rather than an intermediary car. However, I am just shocked at the prices that are being offered for the cars outside of Pacific NW.
I just wonder if there is collusion or a few people owning most of the Honda dealerships in this area. I count it towards experience, but the car is so good that I am willing to overpay to get it sooner

I also noticed what appeared to be price fixing in the PDX area when I bought my 03 Accord and 04 Ody. I think this has been going on for years. The industry has a rich history of fraud, cons, and good old consumer rip-offs. Why wouldn't they try to fix prices? This is still America isn't it?

I picked up my Ocean Mist EX-L RES/NAV on Thursday evening. (baileybrad, it was an EX-L, not an LX). I love the color. It's a medium blue with hints of grey and a touch of periwinkle that changes color depending on the lighting. (I'm still waiting to see what it looks like in sunshine since we haven't seen any here in Ohio for a long time! Hmm, maybe it's the long shadows being cast by all the political barnstorming going on. I love the car, very comfortable and excellent handling. I'm still learning about the NAV/RES system, though a have a 14 yr old son who's taking the lead on that task. The couple of things that I'm disappointed in are the headlights are not auto on/off so I'll have to get used to being sure they are turned off, and since I'm vertically challenged, it would've been nice to have the adjustable pedals and a driver's seat with memory settings. My knees are very close to the dash, so it's cumbersome to get in and out without moving the seat back each time. I think I'm still happy that I got the EX-L vs the Touring, since I didn't want the uncertainty of the PAX tire initial offering.

Details on the deal- I got it for $300 under MSRP, with a Cargo Cover (value $271), free road hazard insurance (supposed value $450), free car washes, and loaner cars. Other places in town (Beechmont Honda $900 under MSRP and Jeff Wyler Colerain $1500 both by phone/internet) were lower, but I would've had to order the Ocean Mist and wait even longer. Also, Performance Honda was very upfront, and not automatically adding on anything - something that I wasn't sure about with the other 2 dealerships in town since I didn't work with them in person.
