Wow frugalcat, that was a great price! I got ours after heavy negotiation with several dealerships. Included wheel locks, mud guards too for the $125.

Stockton Honda. Tracy Honda was good too. Stay away from Elk Grove Honda, they baited.

"livpl", that is a great price. Please pass along the dealership name. Do you know if they had EX-L RES in stock? The best I've found is $26,970 including destination and you got a lower price on NAV which is more expensive...

montreid, I sent an email to about 25 Honda dealers in the San Francisco Bay Area. I got about 10 quotes. The majority of them are very competitive. The lowest bid was $24.9k. I was about to buy from the lowest bidder. Then I got an email from another dealer who offered to beat the lowest bid by $200. So I took it.

Thanks for all of the postings! I have learnt a lot and that made my buying experience painless.

Irishrogue1,

You are correct, the residual is 68% for the Ex with DVD, but 66% with EX-L with DVD or NAV. Honda is trying to push the EX cloth with DVD that hit the market earlier in the year.

I got an email from a MD dealer offering $25,999 for and EX-L with a dealer installed DVD. Not to bad.

"anthonysbmw", is the dealer installed DVD the same as the one the factory installs? That is a great price. Do you mind sharing the dealer name? Thanks. I keep hearing about good deals in MD but there are a LOT of Honda dealers in the area and I'd like to narrow my search!

Skinnytony,

My understanding is that there is a difference between the factory installed and dealer installed DVD. The dealer installed does not have the 3 audio jacks and RCA jacks to plug in a Xbox or PS in the 3rd row. I think the dealer swaps out the front radio to accomodate the DVD. I would ask the dealer to show me a van that has the factory unit and compare to the dealer installed. It shouldn't matter if the factory installed unit is in and EX with cloth.

The dealer is Ourisman Honda - Bethesda. I sent an email to the internet manager. If you wanted his name, email me.

EX or EX-L in Kansas City market??? by tkzv

I am going to be purchasing an EX or EX-L in the KC market within the week. Anyone have a dealer recommendation. I have a quote of $24,381 OTD for the EX and EX-L $25,729 OTD. The EX-L price seems a bit steep. And can anyone confirm that they have extended the $500 to the dealer through 9/6?

My thought is to take the lowest price I get and bounce back to them for $1000 less and see what happens. I guess the worse that can happen is they say no. Any thoughts?

well this morning i spent two hours at landmark honda in alexandria, va arguing and getting baited back and forth between the salesperson and 2 managers all of whom claimed ignorance as to why the deal was going south. before i ever got there, they agreed to $750 under invoice (inc. dest). when i got there they tried every trick possible to get back up to invoice. they tweaked the monthly payment a bit. and then lied about paying the sales tax up front while at the same time rolling it into the lease! they cleverly kept saying that the sales tax would be paid up front as a cap cost reduction - so they werent technically double charging me for sales tax. after 2 hrs, i finally tore up the papers called the sales manager a liar, questioned how badly he must rip off uneducated consumers and walked out.

now i have to start all over at another local dealer.

it was THE worst buying experience i have ever had. i would rather they just refuse to sell a car under invoice because of their margins rather than dropping under and then trying to recover it through inflated doc fees, claimed sales tax prepayment, slightly higher interest rate, waived security deposits, saying the $595 fee was being paid up front when it was also rolled into the lease and on and on....
