Someone here mentioned there are different levels of warranty for the minivan. Is the powertrain warranty the best one they have? Is there a name for the top of the line warranty? Thanks for your help, Mike |

Here is my EX-L deal from Ourisman Honda in Bethesda MD. 36 mo lease Price: 25500.00 Freight: 490.00 Residual 0.61 Money Factor: .00191 Sec Deposit: 0.00 Adj Residual: 17777.00 Monthly Payment: 331.98 Total Initial Payment: 1314.90 (includes VA sales tax $779.70, Processing Fee $100, first month payment and tags and title) The dealer threw in driver side armrest with storage, total dealer cost maybe $70. No trade-in. Asked the Fairfax Honda to match the deal and they refused. They wanted another $52 in county sales tax, $200 additional processing fee and no armrest. Ourisman is also advertising EX lease for $299/mo with 0 down, not even the security deposit. This is even better than the EX incentive listed by Edmunds. The lease is a great option for families like ours, where my wife wanted the Quest or Sienna and I was afraid of Quest’s quality and Sienna’s price. Hopefully in three years Honda, Toyota and DC will bloody each other to the point where I will be able to get the Sienna at invoice minus one to two thousand in incentives.

After getting “Lowballed” or “Bait & Switched” (see post #5009) I purchased a minivan in the Seattle area. Here are the #’s: Honda Odyssey EX Cloth Mud Flaps, Door Edge & Wheel-Well Guards, Wheel Lug Locks, Trunk Tray $25,200 I contacted several dealerships and nobody was willing to go below that #. Additionally, I was shopping for the Sienna in the Seattle area. The best deal I could get was: Sienna LE, 7 Passenger, FWD Package #4, floor mats $25,350 But since I didn't purchase the minivan I don't know for sure if they would have really sold it for that price. I have found that dealerships don't always live up to their price quotes. |

Bought one end of Jan '04 for $27,456 including destination charge. I think that is $450 below invoice (incl destination charge). Doc and other fees added $270. I invited quotes via email. Some were very responsive, breaking out the numbers in the manner I requested. Others didn't and wanted me to come in and talk to them so they could "give me the best service" (they lost my business!) I picked the best numbers and shortlisted the dealers. Went in and made sure they gave me the deal they offered via email. Caveat: they do try (very hard) to sell you extended warranty or get you to finance thru them. Also, if you want any accessories installed, have them do it (to your satisfaction) before you pay and take delivery. This board has been very helpful to me in my search and I wanted to return the favor by sharing my experience. Thanks to all and I will try to stay tuned. |

Greetings, I just signed up so this is my first time using the Town Hall. My question is the Honda Factory Holdback. Is it 2% or 3%. If have the answer can you share with me where you found this information. I am looking at purchasing an Odyssey EX-L-RES (leather with rear entertainment system)and an need accurate Factory Holdback to determine Dealers true cost. Thanks |

In one day, I went to 4 Honda dealerships in the area (central Texas) looking for a new EXL-RES, with a trade-in. Two dealers asked how much I wanted for the trade-in, and told me "good luck" and gave me my keys back when I gave them my answer (didn't even give me a counter-offer). The other two gave me two very low offers for the trade-in. One was willing to negotiate, the other wasn't. The one that negotiated didn't even get close to what I wanted for trade-in and cost of the new Ody. So, I went home very frustrated. Two days later, I got calls from two dealers. One of the ones that didn't give me a price, and the one that was willing to negotiate. In the end, I paid $1k over invoice on the new Ody, and got $2k over KBB for the trade-in (or paid $800 under TMV for the Ody, got TMV for the trade-in). |

Welcome to Town Hall. We say holdback is 3% for the Honda. As the link says, don't focus on holdback in negotiating so much, but instead focus on your out the door cost. Steve, Host |
