I like my new LX alot. It was a little freaky when the traction control and the ABS turned on today in the snow because I'm not accustomed to this high-tech stuff. (My 1990 VW Jetta trade-in was very low-tech by comparison). The roomy interior is awesome. Some would say that we're paying for more "air" but bigger IS better, nudge wink. One of the other posts here was from a Honda sales person. She said "everything is negotiable except the vehicle itself... we sell those at MSRP." Two comments: eventually supply will increase so that even the vehicles are regularly sold below MSRP. But the dealers will have to be "persuaded" by hard-negotiating consumers for that to happen. If even ONE Odyssey is on the lot and is not sold yet, the consumer is in the power-position, not the dealership. At Airway Honda Imports in Chicago, where I bought mine 2 days ago, there were 2 unsold Ody's on the lot. I attempted (without success) to get them to reduce the price below MSRP. I DID get them to over-pay me on my trade-in. My current advice: know exactly what your trade-in's true value is. And then try to get 80 to 110 percent of that from the dealer. Both parties save face: the dealer sells at MSRP... but not really! And the buyer gets a new Ody. We're going skiing in Wisconson with the new Ody in just a few weeks. Can't wait! |

A few weeks ago, Edmunds.com indicated there was no holdback for the Ody from the manufacturer to the dealer. Now it indicates that there IS a 2 percent holdback. If this is true, then this is one more reason for the prices paid to start to come down. Does anybody know what the story is on the Holdback? |

| Whuh? $25,100 TMV ( $1200 above MSRP )for Ody LX ? Where is Ms. Edmunds getting her numbers? It seems most people in the Midwest USA are paying at or a little below MSRP, at least according to this forum. Maybe something fishy got mixed up with their "secret sauce". | |
| I purchased a Lojack unit for my Town and Country Minivan in 1995. Although it was purchased at the dealership, the Lojack unit itself was installed by a Lojack installer who came to the dealership and installed it. I don't think the dealer installs the unit itself, but simply calls the local Lojack installer to put the unit in. I don't know if you would get a better deal by dealing direct with Lojack or not. Maybe you could call them and find out. I'm sure that any warranty work on the unit wouldn't be handled by the dealer's service department anyway, they would probably have Lojack people do the needed service. Unless you are driving a highly desireable vehicle subject or prone to theft strip or theft export, I wouldn't waste the money on this unit again, imo. | |

| I live in Northern California. I probably will a purchase Odessey sometime in March of 2001. It seems to me that all the dealers in Northern California are gouging the consumers. Has anybody had any luck purchasing one in Southern California below MSRP? My reasoning is that they have more dealerships, meaning more competition therefore they will be more willing to deal. Any advise for a future Odessey owner? | |
| I live in Atlanta and have found that all of the metro area dealers are $1,000-1,500 over MSRP. So I started calling the smaller dealers within 100 miles of Atlanta and found two who would sell at MSRP and one(the one I chose) who would go a couple of hundred under and could deliver the car within 15 days. I think the smaller deaers have lower turnover and can't afford to keep vehicles sitting on the lot. I've seen similar posts on this board. Give it a try and see what you can get. | |
| I'm in Atlanta also, and am not having much luck finding anything at MSRP. There have been a number of posts lately about Atlanta dealers--can anyone provide an update on which dealers within 100 miles are selling at or below MSRP? | |

I got my 2k1 Ody LX MB from NJ Dealer on 12/09. I didn't take test dirve before signing papers and while driving home noticed few problems: 1. Steering is making clicking sound while turning at very low speed(< 20mph) 2. There is rumbling sound in the rear every time I come to a stop for 2-3 times(Gas Sloshing???) I'd called my salesman immed. but it was about 9pm and he asked me to bring it on Monday(12/11). I promptly did that but after wasting few hours they gave it back to me with a note "Vehicle is driving as expected at this time" eventhough salesman and mechanic both verbally agreed there is abnormal noise. Can anyone help how to solve these peoblems? What options do I have as I still owe some money to dealer though I've signed credit papers? Is it worth compalining to Honda or under Lemon law? |

| Go to a dealer on the afternoon of the last day of the month. Try to hook up with a salesperson having a bad month. (If you look in the sales managers office, you will see a "tote" board with the names of all the sales persons. Find the one with a low score. Ask for him/her.) Make sure you are qualified (good credit) and take up a few hours of the sales managers and salespersons time. You will be able to buy the Odyssey for MSRP by the end of the day if no one else is bidding against you. Of course there has to be one in stock not already spoken for. Be willing to go home without the car. If you are patient you will win. | |

With big 3 anouncing profit warnings and the dissapperance of Oldsmobil, I think the days we pay MSRP & up are numbered... |
