#28871 of 30055 2012 Touring Elite- Houston by kaybeer

After a week of agonizing between the Odyssey and the Sienna, we ended up purchasing a Odyssey Touring Elite today from Clear Lake Honda- Black with Truffle interior. I figured since this forum was so helpful during our search I would return the favor and post our experience. It came equipped with the dealer ad ons of: Tint, Remote Start, Roof Rack w/ cross bars, Sunroof deflector and hood shield/deflector, cargo tray, door sills, wheel locks and splash guards. We paid $41,500 (destination included in that) plus TTL and received the 0.9% financing. We declined the life time oil changes and microdot dealer "add on" that would have added $499.00. The lifetime oil changes would have been $250, which isn't a bad deal, but since it doesn't include tire rotation or anything else, we passed on it. We also declined the extended warranty, as I will price shop that later using the other forum here. Their other fees, etc. were minimal- no hidden extra fees.

They matched the trade in value I had received from several other dealerships, and it was an extremely low stress transaction- none of the horrible back and forth between the manager's office and us. I had price shopped online for the last several days and had received lower offers in the $39k ballpark, only to arrive at those dealers and be informed that the price did not include destination or any of the dealer add ons they failed to mention in the emails. Those dealerships also came in obscenely low on our trade. From what I can see on this forum, I do feel like we got a fair deal and hope that this is helpful to someone. Thanks to all of you for posting your experiences as well.

Hi, your price was the best so far on this forum for the EXL trim. Can you please sent me the quotes you got from the dealers. Many thanks

No way; that is about $3k too high. Make the deal on the vehicle and then once it's in your driveway buy Hondacare for around $1,270 from Hyannis Honda or another dealer that sells it at cost. Buy them separate; you will get a better deal. (PS. I believe you can buy the extended warranty until your vehicle has 6,000 miles on it).

PS We all need to help others keep their eyes on the prize. The dealer will try to sell you everything BUT the van! You went to buy the car; nothing else! Your current ride doesn't have fabric protection, service packages, etc. If you bought it I'm not ragging on you; I just want to help folks realize that car sales people are TRYING to work you over.

I paid $32,250. That was for the van, doc fee, destination, etc.

Taxes and tags were extra...

The dealership really doesn't matter; unless you follow what I posted before to get something in writing they won't match it. Try the Trucar.com route; it's an awesome service.

Good luck!

Let’s be clear here… I was replying to one of the comments regarding the price but the title of the thread is for EX with rear view camera. The car that I bought was Odyssey EX-L with DVD Rear Entertainment System (RES). I bought it for $31,581 (MSRP is 37,455) excluding tax, title, and doc of $250 after following the negotiation technique that I learned from this forum. Since the RES is about $1,500, a good target price for your EX-L should be about $30K.

I talked to my dealer yesterday and asked him if he is willing to offer the same to my friends but he danced around the answer. I really doubt that he will do it without some pressure or someone hardheaded like me that I stated the price and only allowed him to increase it by $50. I wasn’t going to buy it and I cared more or less if he had turned it down. Many dealers will not accept it and will try to maximize their profit. However, if you continue shopping from one dealer to another and expand your location to other cities and states around you, you should be able to find one dealer who is willing to sell you at your target price. Good luck.

Just bought a Touring Pearl White/Beige for 37800 including Destination and all accessories(Tint/Mats/MudG/CargoMat/Side Rails etc) from Honda Cars of McKinney. Had a Trade-in that matched the price so paid no Tax.

First got an Internet quote for 37800 and then had them match one from Rusty Wallis for 36500. Then had to haggle for Accessories and Trade-In value. Overall good experience. Took a bit long to get Trade-in price but happy at the end.

I recommend requesting internet quotes from 2/3 dealers to compare and then find the sweet spot. Also try to get Accessories listed and priced ahead of time. That is one mistake I made.

Good Luck.

Hi Vicky,
I think your deal was awesome. Who's advice did you follow on the forum? I shared my strategy; if it wasn't mine please share the method to your madness!!!

Congrats again on that deal...

Hi,

I got a quote for a ex-l w/ res for $31,824, excluding destination fee, accessories, processing fees, tax and MD fees (I'm from Maryland). Is this a good price? Also, how much do you think I should pay for destination fee, processing and MD fees? Are they pretty much the same by state or does it vary from dealer to dealer?
