Nice post. I followed a similar process here in the LA area, and pricing incentives do vary from region to region due to inventory. It gets down to the old "supply and demand" thing. The more supply is available, the better deal you get. As some in Texas have noted, they do not have the excess supply, so the deals are harder to find

But the key to getting the best deals is to being flexible on the color.

We bought the first generation Odyssey with the 3rd row fold-down seat in 2000. There was so much scarcity that we had to pay full MSRP and accept the charcoal gray color with the gray interior. After 10 years of seeing 1 out of every 2 Odyssey in that color, my wife insisted on finding the scarcest color in replacing this one. And she did not want another gray interior. And so we sought out the Dark Cherry with the Ivory interior. It is beautiful, but even in area of 50 dealers, finding one in the Touring was no easy task.

So I did like you and negotiated with internet managers saying color is no concern and got my best internet price. Then I had to scramble to find one who had the color we wanted on the lot. Once I confirmed they had our color on the lot, we went to the dealer and negotiated our price down to what we would have paid for the color we did not like.

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to use the online dealer web site and find actual inventory. Some will list the actual VIN, some a stock number. The ones who have neither probably don't have it on the lot and they never negotiate as good a deal to "acquire it" from another dealer. They pay if it is stuck on their lot, so they are more anxious to move it. Educate yourself on the MSRP and you can even figure out what they added to the vehicle.

So for anyone who is color neutral, find a dealer who had multiple colors of one on their lot now and they will be much more easy to negotiate with.

Hi Mike, quick question, did the 29,736 price for the exl with NAV/RES include destination? The best I am able to get is 30,249 including destiation and "procesing"
Before I pull the trigger I want to make sure I am not doing a pricing mistake.

Are you getting this quote over the phone? I've spoken to 2 dealerships in my area & both said break even was $28,205, which they couldn't do b/c they need to make some money.

Where did you get the $30,249 offer? I am in NYC and best deal for EXL and DVD and NAV is $30,918 +TTL.

Looks from those posting on the board that the sub $30K deals for the EXL and DVD and NAV are in VA.

Sorry, $28,205 for the EX-L, no RES, no NAV. I originally asked for $27,800 & they said no way, so I'm not sure how everyone seems to be getting $27,400 or lower. Maybe I should have started at $27,400 b/c I don't mind paying $27,800, i feel that is still a fair price.
