You are in the Prices Paid - Buying & Leasing Experiences
What is this discussion about?
Honda Odyssey, Van
Feb 27, 2009 (12:00 pm)
First, my experience with looking for cars on autotrader was that the dealerships no longer had the cars in stock that were listed on autotrader. (I was looking at 08 Odysseys back in December).
Second, I doubt the 2008 incentives get any better. That being said, I fully expect 09 to get better. All indications are that our economy continues to lag plus you have the fact that the 2010 Odyssey is supposedly going to be a big change.

The Odyssey will be totally redesigned for 2010.So,folks who are buying now for the 09 models-- wouldn't it be better for them to wait till `2010 model arrives.B`cos when it arrives the resale values of 09 would go down relatively. And you would be buying pretty much a 05-09 generation odyssey.
Just MHO , thanks.

That's similar with the quotes I've been getting as well for EX-L no nav and no DVD in the St. Louis area. So far, I've contacted 3 of the dealers in the area. I've gotten the following. For each they already factored the $670 destination charge in to the offer:
Offer 1 $27627 + $159 doc fee + $358 dealer installed options (pin stripes, splash guards) = $28144
Offer 2 $27704 + $149 doc fee + $374 dealer installed options (splash guards, door guards, cargo tray) = $28227
Offer 3 $27995 (includes dealer installed splash guards) + $189 doc fee = $28184
These are all the initial offers I got upfront when I contacted the dealers so I'm not sure if they'll go lower. Wondering if it's worth holding off to see what the March incentives will be.

Thanks for the input.
I think we'll be going with the 09 because the deal just isnt good enough on the 08. The best price I have gotten on the EX-L (no res or nav) is $29,835.48 out the door.
Thats a price of 27265 + 599 (dealer fee) + 21 (tax/title/lemon) + 1950.48 (tax)
Two dealers have told me now that Odyssey supply is dwindling and they expect their incentives to be reduced in March. I hope they're not right because we can't buy until next week.
One person mentioned that the car is being redesigned for 2010. Is this a major overhaul? We keep our cars for a while so I doubt it will have a big effect on us down the road when we plan on selling it.

The 2010 Odyssey you mentioned is actually the version sold in Japan and Asia.It is a shorter smaller model. The American redesigned one would be much bigger like the present one.
But as with Honda and Toyota-- there will be a lot of updates and new features and gadgets in a newly redesigned version.eg:: compare the previous and present generations of Odyssey and Sienna---especially Sienna----- lots of updates, refinement, tech features and refinement.
So,2010 probably would follow that trend.

#21737 of 30581 Honda Odyssey in DFW, Texas area
Feb 28, 2009 (8:28 am)
I just purchased a 2009 Honda Odyssey EX-L from Bankston Honda in Lewisville. Total OTD price...including dealer add ons and 6.25% tax for $29,852..... The total transaction took about 2 days of back and forth on email to settle on the price....then about 1.5 hours once I arrived at the dealership. Pretty smooth transaction. And more important....my wife is happy!

Negotiatiing the price :
Your advantage - emailing as many as dealers by sitting at home
Their advantage - sitting at ONE dealer
When the price is final. Then I will email credit application form to make sure all the finance is all set. After this ask dealer to email your a draft of all final figures. After checked and all OK. Tell the dealer to get the same printed ready and prepare the car for delivery. I think you will leave the dealer with your new car in 45 mins
Upon your arrival, all you need is to double check all numbers and sign then go into the finance manager room, say "no" to all the bait offers, get the contract print out sign seal and deliver.
#21739 of 30581 Am I out of the ballpark on Odyssey EX with add on DVD?
Feb 28, 2009 (2:04 pm)
Negotiated today for a 2009 Odyssey EX with aftermarket DVD. I'm in VA wtih 3.1% tax. I offered $25.5K for the van, the lowest they came to before I left was $26,832. I am not sure if I was actually too low and that's why they could not do the deal. They send me an email offer of $23,557 before adding aftermarket DVD and TTL. I walked in already having test driven the vehicle elsewhere and knew exactly what I wanted down to the color.
I want to buy this van from somewhere, so I need to know what is a bottom line reasonable price to offer OTD since I'm ready to buy.
