Hi All,

I am planning to buy an Odyssey 2007 which has 16K miles. It is a certified pre-owned vihicle. The asking price is 19K. The warrranty, sice it is certified, goes till 48K miles/4years calculated from Jan'07. Is that a good deal?

The dealer is also offering a wrap up warranty from Honda Care that would extend the Warranty till 100K miles/7years calculated from Jan07 to match the power train warranty. The price for the warrany ia 900. Is it woth it?

So today i got additional prices using the costco auto plan.

for the ody EX-L with nav and Rear Ent.. the total was 32,663.00 OTD
34,204.82 (6% sales tax in Michigan)

My other quote for the EXL without nav or rear ent was
28,630.00 OTD 30,565.00 (6% Michigan tax)

What do you think about these prices? How do you negotiate a price?
I did tell the dealer that i though i've seen it for 29,500 OTD but he said he would have to see paper work on that because that is way too low. Is the price he offered good? Please give me advice the salesmen always scare me..

Just clarifying, you say, the following but OTD (Out the Door) mean including Tax Title Lic. ie) what you would write a check for to get out the door. So do you mean your price is 34,204 OTD? If so, you can do better.

I agree you can do better. I would say at least $1,000. In this economy you should be able to get an Odyssey for no more than dealer invoice less $2,250 factory to dealer cashback. The dealer invoice on an EX-L w/ Nave and Rear Ent. is $34,139 including destination. If you back out $2,250 you get to a price before tax, title... of $31,889. The dealer would still have 2% of MSRP (holdback) of profit in that number plus doc fees.

I requested quotes from three area dealers through the dealer websites. The internet quotes were all very competitive and were all below dealer invoice.

Does anyone know if there are any known issues with 2005 Odyssey EXL(DVD) and being fixed in later releases (>2005).

Your inputs are really appreciated.

Thanks,

Agreed. I have a quote for an EX-L w/RES but without Navigation of $28,898 which is $1,003 under dealer invoice less cashback of $2,250. $32,151 (invoice) - $2,250 = $29,901. Quote of $28,898 is $1,003 less than dealer invoice less cashback. However doc fees in GA are $399 which is higher than the quote that the original poster had.

So you can do $1K better at a minimum and possibly $1,800 or so.

yes the OTD price including tax plates etc. for the EXL 2009 with nav and rear was 34,204 and the OTD price for the EXL- without the nav and rear was 30, 565.00 OTD. Ok so, how do i go about trying to lower the cost.. i'm telling you i get scared around the salesmen... So i was right when i told him that i read 29,500.00 was what others were getting it for OTD.. that would be an extra 1000.00 right there. He seemed mad and said he needed to see papers for that.

If someone got the price of 29,500 OTD for a 2009 EX-L with RES, I think that is really low (and I would be jealous). I had originally posted that we got ours for 29,600 OTD but we had 2k from a trade.

As far as dealing with the salesmen, don't be intimidated. When me and my husband went, I did all the negotiating and I just told them that I felt comfortable that I could get it for the price I offered them elsewhere if they didn't want to give it to me. I offered them 29,500, after going back and forth a couple of times. I didn't want to give them more than 29k, but my husband wanted to given in a little and told them we would do 500 more. I don't think we got a steal by any stretch, but I think 29,500 was very fair. Let me know if this helps...
