Sounds like you did all right, except for all the shlepping.

We got the 8yr/120k hondacare for $1300 at the dealer when we bought it, so you were in the ballpark for that, too. Actually you got the color we were trying to find, but settled for silver.

I hate dealers by chwtom

I have spent the last 4 days wasting my time.

I am looking for an 08 EX-L with RES (no nav). Nobody in Wisconsin has one, apparently, but that doesn't stop them all from telling me they do.

This is what happens (it's like they circulate a manual telling them how to do this).
I call, asking if they have any of these in stock.
They say yes, why don't I come in and check it out.
I say what color. They say they're not sure, can they call me back later, because they are so busy, or can I just come in.
I ask them to call me back. They don't.
Half a day later, I call back. They say they have a gray one. I'm so excited! I ask for a price quote. They say they'll have the internet person email me a quote. They don't.
I call back several hours later. The internet person says they "were just emailing me right now" with the quote. I get the quote. It looks good. I say lets do the deal.
I ask to confirm that it's gray. They go check. "oh shoot, that one sold". we do have a white one with the Nav package, would you be interested in that?
I try not to swear at them.

I got the same song and dance at 4 different dealers. So I gave up and bought a Routan with 0% financing for 72 months. I would've preferred the Odyssey, but I couldn't deal with that crap anymore.

Uh, more like few are in a hurry to BUY them. The post from 12/17 with days supply is quite enlightening:

September 1 - 57 days
October 1 - 71 (32000 vans available)
November 1 - 97 (33000 vans available)
December 1 - 113 (33000 vans available)

113 days worth of Hondas with the lot numbers not budging as of 12/1, and if the pattern holds it should be 125 day supply or more by 1/1/09.

EXL vs EXL NAVI & RES by wingnut330

Hello all,

Here's is what I have on the table and would like to make the deal today so I can have it under the tree on the 25th. I'm in the Columbus Ohio area...

EXL - $25,800

EXL - NAVI & RES - $28,360

I'm guessing I can shave another $300 off of each deal.

So the question is, for a difference of $50/mo or $3500, do I go with the R&N or the base EXL? I'm hearing that the NAVI isn't a good value, but the wifey likes the look of it and thinks it might be useful. I'm ok with the base EXL, but it will be her car.

The other consideration is the EXL has some dealer installed stuff on it like running boards. I don't want the running boards so they are taking them off. I'm concerned that once they are off, I now have new places for rust to form.

What are your opinions?

Thanks in advance!

Wingnut - if you live in an area of Ohio with new subdivisions and such, the NAVI would be good. But one thing to be careful of, it could be just one more distraction that takes the eyes of your wife off of the road.

In terms of the running boards, I believe that the running boards are attached via "holes" in the frame that are already there. I do not believe they have to drill new holes for the running boards. But I would ask at the dealership or post something at this website....

Those numbers are mostly for 2009's. The 2008's are SOLD OUT in Minnesota, yet we still get a ton of leads for them. As a result of high demand and NO supply we went and bought two truck loads from down south (24 in total) and have sold 20 of them at $2000.00 under invoice which is a savings of $4000.00 from the 2009's.

The demand is still high for '08's (people still see a good value) versus 2009's which at present, have no additional incentive from the factory.

There are a couple things that make the Navi version more attractive for us, and well worth the price difference you quoted (GREAT deals, BTW):

When you hit reverse, the WHOLE NAVI screen becomes a monitor for the backup camera showing what's behind you. On the EX-L, it's a tiny part of the rearview
mirror.

The Navi screen is HUGE and much nicer than the comparatively tiny add-on screens you can buy. We've always had good luck getting upgrades for the Navi DVD every 3 years or so (updating more frequently is a waste of money, imo). It's also voice activated, something the add-on navis don't seem that great at.

The Navi screen also doubles (triples?) as a screen for the XM radio that displays detailed information on the title, genre, station, etc and lets you easily adjust stereo parameters via the touch screen.

And, then the Rear Entertainment system is a huge bonus if you have kids.

We had factory navi in our 2000 odyssey and have used it EXTENSIVELY on trips, so it was a non-negotiable for the 2008 we just bought - we had to have it. I would completely go for the 2008 EX-L RES+NAVI.

I have a quote for 27070 for an EXL with DVD but the dealer wants to put the all season mats on it ($210). I want them but I don't want to pay for them. Is that a good price and is it wrong for me to have them try to throw in the mats for free?
They are not seeming to budge and I am scaed it will be gone as all the other ones have that have a DVD installed. Oh and the dealership is 100 miles away so time and money over the holidays is not money well spent.
Any advise sure will help!

Well, I bought the EXL R&N today for $28,200 +TTL. I also got the 6 Yr/120,000 mile warranty for $1,100. Seemed like a decent price on the warranty so I went for it.

Now I just have to find a way to sneak it into my driveway to surprise the wifey on Christmas morning!
