I bought an '08 Odyssey EX-L w/ NaviI & DVD from KLEIN HONDA in Everett (Sean Green, Internet Manager). He did a dealer trade, for the color I wanted, with a dealer several hundred miles away ($150 fee to bring it in). I also had to purchase a few add-ons that were already on the car (mudflaps, all-weather floor mats), but I was considering these in any case. KLEIN's was still the lowest price bid I received, edging up to $29K (including transport fee of $670, but not TTL) -- about $3400 under invoice. And I also got 1.9% (36 mo) financing on the deal. The Internet Manager was very responsive, very straightforward, very helpful -- he just laid out all the details and options and gave no BS. He also spent more than 90 minutes going over the Odyssey's every feature and function.

Replying to: mplshondadlr (Dec 11, 2008 3:14 pm) I did a close consideration of buying the '09 instead of the '08, and found that the actual difference between the model years was minimal -- BlueTooth and power lift on the rear door are standard on the '09, but the invoice price is up commensurately as well (>$1K higher). With Honda's $3500 support to dealers, an '09 would have bottom-lined about $6K more than I paid for the '08. I tend to keep my cars a long time (the last two were 11 and 13 years old when I let them go, and I still have an 18 year old Benz), so the depreciation offset isn't very important to me.

We are in the market for a Certified Pre-owned Odyssey--not sure if this is where I should be, so if not please point me in te right direction. We do not want to go back more then 4 years, preferably three, but was wondering if there is a year in that span we should stay away from? Do the Odysseys hold up through all trim levels? One vehicle we are considering is an '05 Touring with under 40k for $19995. I see on here I may be able to find a new '08 LX for about the same, any suggestions? Thanks for your time. I'd stay away from 2003 and 2002 models because of the transmission problems. 2004 is top rated by consumer reports, no transmission problems. 2005 is rated OK, 2006 and 2007 are rated very good. Hello all,   I am new to this forum and am looking for some good advice! We are in the market for an Odyssey and do not want to have to pay more than we have to. We have scoured dealers on the internet and locally to get the prices offered on this forum but noone seems to budge!   They almost kick us out the door or do not email us anymore! Is this a tactic or are they really not interested in selling to us at 25000 for exl and 26300 for RES?   End of the year is here, the colors are very few and they still won't budge.....what gives! Should I wait or just give them the extra $600 they want? Help!   PS this is in the Cincinnati area. I know in Phoenix, the dealers were not as quick to negotiate as they are on the east and west coast for 08 EX-L. Try that for starters... Dave

Replying to: willenj1 (Dec 18, 2008 8:59 am) My only advice if you're looking at the older touring where PAX wasn't optional is to NOT get it. They made PAX optional later on the touring because it's a TERRIBLY EXPENSIVE thing to maintain. $1500 to replace tires (almost twice as frequently as normal, too) is what you can expect instead of $500-600 for a nice set of regular tires that last twice as long. You can't downgrade a PAX unit, either, so you're stuck with the expense over the life of the van. It's one reason the used Touring Odysseys with PAX are so cheap many places - the word is out on how lame PAX really is. Replies to this message: willenj1 (Dec 18, 2008 11:23 am)
