If an ad leaves out a lot of information, and if the price looks really low, then you should assume the worst... $595 acquisition fee? $299 doc fee? Destination charge? It can go on and on... Second.. The lease buyout (or residual) is a set percentage of the MSRP.. The selling price or the total of lease payments have nothing to do with it... If the MSRP is $34,400 and the residual percentage is 54%, then the buyout is $18,576... Third.. Part of your lease payment (as you noted) goes to finance charges... You'd have to know how much of it to calculate the rest of the equation.. You can go to the Honda Odyssey Lease Questions forum and get money factors and residuals... From there, it is a lot easier to calculate the actual selling price... Or, you could call Boch and ask them for the total amount due at signing on the lease in the ad.... Don't be shocked if it turns out to be $4000... regards, kyfdx Host-Prices Paid Forums

Replying to: jgz (Aug 12, 2008 6:03 pm) Best offer so far: Selling price: 27036 Sales tax (6.25%): 1689.75 Other fees (doc, title, lic, regis, inventory): 255 Out the door cash price: 28,981 At least one other dealer has offered to match or beat that price. According to my calcs, this selling price is fairly close to their cost, so seems like a good, reasonable deal to me. Any thoughts? |

just bought exl for $25,600 last night, best offer I could ever imagine based on any other offers I got from the dealerships around my area; so I nailed it right away. Then they pulled it from their storage place because they don't have the color I want on site. It's very, very dirty with bird droppings on it; and it has 20 miles on it; all the plastic wrappings on the seats and floors(except driver's floor) are removed; the price stickers on the window are removed, too; and the guy did pull the handle three times when he tried to close the side door. All of the these gave me the feeling that it's not brand-new. Is it possible a demo one or the one has been test-drived a lot? or the one with minor defects? Or am I just worried too much? We haven't pick up the car yet because they'll wash it up today. Can we still do something? Please give some advices. We're not very experienced in buying new cars, this is our 2nd one. Thanks in advance. Miner |

Just purchased an 08 EXL-RES last Friday. E-mailed fifteen dealers. Ten responded. Low bid for base price including destination was $27,764 or $28,764 with financing. As far as I can tell, that was: Invoice, less dealer cash, less holdback: $31,282 - $1,500 - $1,014 ($33,810*.03) = $28,768. They offered $1,000 less for no financing. The dealer had a documentation fee of $75. Since tax, title and license are not negotiable and vary so much state to state, I have not included those numbers. Remaining quotes for base price ranged from $28,864 to $30,890 with financing. We accepted the best quoted price as no dealers wanted to improve their bid below that number. Got pre-approved for financing on-line at the dealer website. Went in, test drove the van, signed papers and left. Total time about 1.5 hours. No trade-in. All in all a great experience with the dealer. Total time from first e-mail to purchase was four days. |
