Is the holdback actually 2% or 3%... I saw these 2 numbers all over the forum.

The dealer I worked with was Fox Honda in Grand Rapids, MI. Don't play games just let them give you a price and then give them all the data from this website edited down to exactly what you want them to see. It worked GREAT for me.

EXL Price - New Orleans Area by ghr

In the New Orleans area, I just bought a new Odyssey EXL with a tow package for $27,800 + TTL. I found 2 dealers that quickly came down to $27,000 + TTL without the tow package. The tow package costs about $1300 if you have them add it on after the fact. So I either got the van for $27,000 and the tow package for $800 -- or I got the van for $26,500 and the tow package for $1300. The price was lumped together for $27,800.

Word of caution - after you agree on a price, check the OTD price. One of the dealers tried to inflate the TTL costs by around $400. The tax is a set amount, but watch for added costs. The dealer I went with charged me the tax, plus $119 for title and license, and no other charges - this was reasonable.

Do I have to pay taxes on the dealer incentive or rebates? I only have to pay tax on the final figure right?

Thanks for your post! I haven't looked at the GC but since I'm going to be leasing and have been considering the Odyssey Touring no Pax but when the deals got worse after July8th, I didn't want to pay $60+/mo more for a month older vehicle, I have stalled.

Will look at the Grand Caravan... thanks!

I'm in socal too and I'm looking for just an EX-L. This is just a suggestion but I think you can save yourself 4-6 grand by buying a garmin and installing an aftermarket flip-down dvd player. You can get a bigger screen too like 19-20inches. And the garmin can fit in your pocket (nuvi 350/360 and they are cheap now too!). The one that comes with the car is 9 inches. I haven't seen the quality of the screen in the car, but IMO I don't think it is worth the premium.

I agree with dirtydump about the premium commanded for RES/NAV models. Our last two minvans have had RES and we would love NAV but we just leased a plain '08 EX-L this time.

Can you recommend a particular model of aftermarket DVD player? Since we lease, I was thinking of just getting a laptop style player. Now that our kids are 6 and 8 that seems like a more reasonable solution.

Those handheld players are great, especially if you get a car adapter for them. We have a widescreen-clamshell samsung and it's fine. Cheap, portable, and each kid can have their own. Sometimes it gets a little hot, but no big deal. I have a 12 inch laptop too and I think that could be a reasonable solution as well.

That being said, there is something nice about having a flip-down DVD player mounted in one's car (I don't know what it is, but it just seems cool). I have never had one in my car before. My buddy had a head unit with a dvd player. It was nice but way too small. I haven't been researching very long but one thing that I can imagine being a problem is the screen getting washed out by sunlight. Since you have had one before in your car you may know whether this is a problem. Other than that, all I can say is I guess we gotta put in some work and research DVD players like we researched this car.
