I know your predicament about the local Atlanta dealers. I did not even bother discussing prices with them, although I did take a test drive at one dealer. Mike Patton Honda in LaGrange, Ga is the dealer I went to for my EX. As a matter of fact I just picked up mine this morning after only a 30 day wait. They are not that far out from downtown Atlanta. I live in Lawrenceville and it was only 90 miles away. A 90 minute drive is worth saving over $1,500+, would you agree? Ok, they offer Odysseys |

Does anyone have good experience with a dealer in NJ? I'm in the market for an Odyssey EX-L-NAVI. I checked a few dealers in this area and they seem to get stuck at MSRP, not a penny less (but sometimes add all kind of fees). Is it worth traveling to another state? What do you do then if there is any problem with the car? Thanks. |

djwhitaker, I also live in Atlanta and like wlkwok bought from Chris Assaf at Mike Patton. I was able to get a 2001 EX this summer for $250 below MSRP plus their $250 doc fee. Even better, they delivered the van to me at my home. It was a straightforward deal, all done via e-mail, phone, and fax. Like wlkwok, I highly recommend Mike Patton. |

With this new plant opening in Atlanta, does anyone think prices will drop a bit for the '02 Odyssey? (I live in Northern Virginia.) I hate to pay MSRP for any car. When will be see the cars coming out of it, soon? I don't know how long it takes to make a car at the factory. Is the Ody as wonderful as Honda makes them out to be? I want a car I can keep for ten years, that is reliable. I have an '88 Acura Legend with 189,000 miles and she keeps going. If that is any indication, then the Odyssey may be the perfect car. |

Slowly will come to full production, but when they get there new Honda SUV will be in equation along with increased MDX production. I look at Canada and US production as one with various ratios on production mix. I personally do see a nice availability of these Honda products in about 4 months but then new Honda SUV will kick in and take away some production ability. ie there is a small window in next few months for a lot of Odyssey production. In a year, discounts should be found. In two months you may find one at a dealer for MSRP unsold. INKY |

| I'm writing this post on both the "Odyssey Problems" and "Prices Paid" boards. I'm taking delivery of a 2002ex tomorrow. It hasn't gone as smooth as I would have liked untill now, but I'm paying MSRP and only waited 4 days once I put down the small deposit. They will prep it in the morning. I went for an alarm system with glass protection and a passive ignition cutoff because I live in the New York area. It will cost 450 more.I was under the impression untill last night that these came with the EX. An option salesman threw so much crap at me, it took me nearly two hours to sort it out. I'm still unsure weather or not I really need this extra. I need to know exactly what the "security system" is that comes standard on the EX from people who already own this car. Also, does anyone know of where I can get the 1000,000 mile Honda Care in the NY area for the less than $900 I've been readig about on these boards. | |
| My '01 EX comes with a security system. All it does is honk and blink the headlights, parking lights, and other exterior lights when activated. There is however, no mention of an ignition cutoff (haven't tried it myself), however I assume it's there since there is a micro chip in the key, to enable/disable the radio at least. I'm also not sure if the EX comes with glass protection (I doubt it). As for the 100,000 mile/7 yr warranty, you can get it out of state. I got mine from Alton Bakley in KY for $875 (about a month or two ago). Good luck with your pickup and rest assured even at MSRP, the Ody is a great deal! | |
| Thanks for the reply, DTKWOK. It doesn't come with glass sensors and now that you said it, I kind of remember someone telling me about the horn honking if a door is opened. Does the horn honk for the hatch opening too? Also the chip disables the ignition. I don't know if it is passive or what part of the passive optional system qualifies for an insurance discount. If any one knows, that would help. My insurance agent is closed until Monday, so I can't ask him before the system is installed. The bottom line seems to be $450 to add glass sensors and I think another ignition disabler. Seems like a rip-off. I think I'll wait and see. Any more advice would help. P.S. How can I get in touch with Alton Bakley? | |
