2008 Honda Odyssey EX at Sanford Honda by sloth_ll

Just bought EX for $24500 OTD from Sanford Honda in NC. They also quoted EX-L for $27400 OTD. The process was very smooth. Did the paperwork within half an hour, there wasn't even a sales pitch for extended warranty or accessories.

Sorry we don't have the breakdown. The dealer took $2000+3% hold back from Invoice and reached price of $278xx. Then they knocked down another $4xx to match our EX deal, so there wasn't a break down for the EXL. Also the GM (Stacey) took the paper with the numbers and said he couldn't give the piece of paper to us.

So sorry for my bad math! I miscalculated the tax by a decimal point. Here is what I ended up paying:
$31,050 OTD price
---------
$28,388 plus TTL of $2342 (tax) + $344 (TL) =>$31,050
includes all-weather floormats plus wheel locks ($409 value)

A couple of other dealers offered $100-200 below this OTD price, but I like this dealer the best and he was closest to our home, so a plus for servicing issues!

I got the lowest quote from South Bay (Los Gatos) too. I did not decise if I need to see it yet. Since according to the formula I learned, it is still $500 above the target price. My target price is about $28500 OTD for EXL.

The formula is as following,

MSRP = Sticker(includes Dest. Charge)
Invoice = Can be found on Edmunds.com(include options) or kbb.com
Rebates = Vary by local dealership (I use $2000 for EXL)
Holdback (dealer's profit) = 3% of MSRP
Estimate True invoice = Invoice - Rebates - Holdback
tax = ?% x True Invoice
Tags = whatever your states charges (typically $100 - $400)
Low ball offer = True Invoice + tax + tags - $2,000
Target Price = [ (MSRP - Rebate - Low ball offer) ] / 2 + low ball offer (this is basically the formula I use)
TRY TO GET YOUR PRICE AS CLOSE TO THE TARGET PRICE AS POSSIBLE!

It sounds a very good price. Can you share me which dealer who quoted to you? I am currently looking for EXL.

Thanks

I haven't done the numbers for EX-L/RES, but the calculation I used for a target price was:
Invoice - (2% MSRP) - incentives = target.
I saw this in an earlier posting in the thread. Curious if this formula is close to the one you're using?
