'08 LX in central Illinois by rattles33

Just picked up our new LX last night. $21,800 nimbus gray. Had a '00 Ody with 115k mostly trouble free miles, but figures the transmission was only a matter of time, and plus the CEL was coming on occationally for the catylitic converter, so traded when it went off. Honda of Illinois in springfield got us in and out, very good experience. Absolutely no gimmicks. Told them what I would pay for the new and only then did the trade and also told them what I needed for it or no deal. They quickly came to my price and everything went smooth.

After joining Edmunds last week, Auto Freak 2 has posted 4 messages-3 of which degraded another dealership and 1 that recommended a dealer..hmmmmmmmm I wonder if there is an agenda here?

Just for the "record", no where does he state he has purchased a vehicle or has researched anything! People want honest feedback, not information from someone who seems to have ulterior motives!

Hi all. 1st post on the board. Great information to be had here! Went back and read up on the infamous "donkeypunch" method, which I had already been doing an abbreviated version of. In addition, I cranked out the numbers for "invoice less 2% msrp less 2000" which came to $30,325 (assuming I did the math correctly). So at this point, our lowest offer is $30,700 or $32,800 driveout. Do folks here feel this $30,700 figure can be improved? I'm all for getting the best number, but don't want to beat a dead horse. We're paying cash, so no monkey business w/ financing. Plan on doing Bernardi for the warranty but will see if they will match. Any / all thoughts are much appreciated! Thanks!

Any replies this question from the people who already bought their Odessey.

"I recently bought a new Odessey EXL and friend of mine looked at the car and complained that the mats I got with the car are not Honda made, as his old Odessey mats got Honda symbos and the word "Odessey" on the mats. My new van didn't have any "Odessey" or "Honda" label on the mats. Does anyone can confirm if my dealer replaced the original mats with the off-market brands?? "

Just got my Ody last night. Compared with my '00 Ody, the mats are much cheaper quality and they do not have the Odyssey logo. So no, I don't believe they replaced them, they just come cheaply made. Of course, you can always pay more for the all weather mats that Honda sells as an accessory (go to walmart instead).

On the 08 Odyssey's, the mats are NOT embroidered with Honda or Odyssey. I also questioned the dealer at time of my trade of an 05 for an 08 and none of the Odyssey's on the lot had anything on the mats. These mats on the 08 are cheaper and thinner than previous yrs.
