Purchased 08 Ody-Touring Without PAX in NJ I finally bought my 08 Odyssey Touring (without PAX) couple days ago from Open Road Honda in Edison, NJ Base Price = $33314 (2.9k below invoice) + Destn = $635 + Doc. fee = $359 (its high but they would not lower it, instead gave free all-season mats & wheel-locks) + NJ Tax 7% + MV Title/Registration Accessories: Wood-Trim (front and back) $489 installed (they're plastic but look good) All-season mats (free - would definately recommend these) Wheel-locks (free - but useless in my opinion) Paid 5k on credit-card (max. allowed) & Rest by certified check (No Finance) Did initial quote over email (DonkeyPunch method) then negotiated over email/phone to clarify all other fees/charges. Open-Road Honda (Edison) gave me the best overall deal due to trade-in. The had one of the lowest prices (except document fees), gave me the highest price for my trade-in, they got the vehicle next day and took $5k payment on credit-card. Open Road were really professional and process was smooth (walked out w/ deal in 1-hr including trade-in appraisal, then picked up car w/ accessories installed next day - paid only after test-drive actual car). Note: the lowest they could offer the 8-yr/120k No-deductible Warranty was $1800 so I did not buy. Planet Honda price was same as Open Road Honda but they did not have my color in stock and said they would only order factory-direct (~3-week wait) instead of getting from another dealer (weird). I would stay away from Metro Honda (Jersey City) - they had good price but when I showed up they claimed their quote was for a 2007 model then tried to sell me an 2008 EX-L for same price! Madison Honda, Clinton Honda, P'burg Honda, Lehigh Valley Honda (PA), Ray Price Honda (PA) were very cordial to deal with but the best they could offer was $2k below invoice and did not want to match the other dealers price. Thanks to all on the board for providing useful info and to DonkeyPunch for the request-quote method. The Ody runs awesome, I love the leather, voice-command and blue-tooth and Nav and RES, the plus-one seat is lame and already we've removed it. I will follow-board for few more days if someone has any questions of needs names of people I dealt with. Manish |

I want to buy a 2008 Honda Odyssey LX and I am looking for some leverage to get the best deal I can. I live in NW Ohio. Can someone tell me the best deal they got in buying one? Please include base charge, destination charge, title, tags and taxes all separelty so I can so all of them individually (in case taxes in Ohio are different than your state). I am also adding both a roof rack and a cross bar on the roof so I can put my cargo carrier on that. If anyone has prices on that too, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I just want to say thanks to everyone on the forum for all the help buying a new odyssey. Pay back time, with my purchase information below. I emailed a bunch of local dealers in my area, got prices from most of them, and bought my odyssey from my local dealer the next day. I didn't go crazy to get the lowest price, but I knew I was in the ballpark with a good deal. 2008 Odyssey EX-L, no NAV, no RES MSRP $32,845.00 27,500.00 with destination 2028.13 sales tax 12.50 NY state tire recycling fee 10.00 NY state inspection fee 45.00 dealer document preparation fee 187.50 NY state registration 29,783.13 out the door cash deal, no financing, no trade Curry Honda in Yorktown is where I have been servicing my 2 prior odysseys and my 2 prior pilots, and their service department is so good I have even serviced my wife's Lexus there a couple of times. The sales rep was straightforward, professional, no BS, a pleasure to work with. They finally gave me a competitive price this time, so I bought from them. Good luck with your purchase. One disappointment. Despite all the great new features with the backup camera, new variable cylinder system, and automatic door locks and all the other fantastic ody features, Honda removed one of my favorites. There is now only one power outlet on the dash, and one by the rear hatch. The 2005 had 2 dash outlets, one for my dash mounted gps, and one for my cell phone. The cover for the 2nd outlet is there, so I am going to ask the dealer if they can install a 2nd outlet for me.

Replying to: doctormark (Apr 06, 2008 5:40 pm) Probably cheaper to just get a splitter from Radioshack for the power. I think it is less than $10 and does the trick. |
