| We own a new (4k miles) '01 Ody EX (White) and really love it! We purchased from Morristown Honda (TN) and could not have had a better experience. Then we read about the '02... we will place an order tommorow AM for a identical '02 Ody EX (Nov allocation). The resale value allows us to "trade up" to the '02 comfortably. The 35 additional horsepower, 5 spd trans, 4 wheel disc brakes, and side are bags are important to us. Someone is going to get a mint 2001 EX! | |

We just got a MB EX '01 for msrp in Idaho. I'm not sure what they will do for '02 pricing, but we supposedly got a good deal because we were a referral. If you want more info feel free to email me at sparkys42 |

We had ordered a 99 Ody LX-C but did not wait the 5 months necessary in March 1999. Our daughter wants to purchase our 99 GC SE and we are considering the 2002 Odyssey LX or EX, the Sienna LE, a GC Sport, or a T&C LX. Each van has advantages but the Odyssey at MSRP is comparable value to the others with a BIG discount off MSRP. My sister got a NEW 2001 Ody EX a few months ago. We test drove it when outside temperature was 97 F and the Automatic Temperature worked perfectly. The horizontal creases in seats are MORE comfortable in hot weather than any other vehicle we have driven. I am anxious to read a first hand account of a dealer being reasonable and offering a decent trade in amount. Most dealers expect too much profit on trade ins and give a very low trade in. |

| The vans you're considering are all very, very sweet vehicles. I don't think you can go wrong no matter which you choose, providing you don't let any dealers gouge you with stupid, worthless add-ons, "protection packages", or charging above MSRP "market adjustments" that are discussed in many postings. Good luck! (It will be interesting to watch supply/demand trend when new Odyssey production capacity expands this coming November). | |
| I find the LA region is more competetive than the Bay Area. Some dealers are sold out and taking orders on 2002's at MSRP, while some others are quoting premium prices, much like the Bay Area. | |
| AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Too many people in So Cal like to pay over MSRP. Need to round them up and send them up to Northern California. | |
| Just purchased a 2001 LX in Calgary, Canada for sticker price (ARRGH)which was approx $21,000 USD and was prepared to decline the extended warranty offered by the dealership. The 7yr/160,000km bumper to bumper was roughly $800 USD which I thought was too expensive BUT the dealership offered a "DON'T USE DON'T PAY" credit which means if I don't use the extended warranty they will credit me the $800 at the end of 7yrs. The money is only a credit at that dealership but good as cash. Is this a new twist? Did I get ripped off? The only drawback I could see is that I might not buy anything from that dealership in the future. What do I do in year 6 or 7 if I have a minor claim, use the warranty or pay cash and try to get the $800 back? | |
|
tmckinnon: $800 is not bad price for extended warranty. I didn't purchase my sales didn't even bother to try to sell me one. LOL Question is: What if you used Honda basic warranty within first 36 month, does that mean you make a claim? Regarding the minor claim toward the end of 7 years, I think you have to look at condition of your Ody toward the end of 7 years. Will it be the only one or there are potential more to claim. Goo luck! bjk |
