Of course, but I wasn't sure she bought a new 2007 because of the title lease new or buy used.

Ody EX question for the group by godsgal Jul 04, 2007 (8:46 am)

First can I say thank you for rickindallas for his information on calculating dealers cost at #15453.

You’re welcome. Pass on what you learn too.

Ody EX question for the group by godsgal Jul 04, 2007 (8:46 am)
I was feeling so sorry for them not making any money. Now I feel good about making a lower offer.

Don’t feel sorry. They are adults and savvy business people, they will turn down an offer they don’t want to do.

Ody EX question for the group by godsgal Jul 04, 2007 (8:46 am)
We are buying a van this week in IN and are considering a 2007 EX. After we make our offer for the vehicle when we walk in (we are working with a guy), what extra costs should we prepared to deal with if we do not offer an OTD price?

Just watch out for dealer “processing fee”, “conveyance fee”, “prep fee” etc. Also watch out for the dealer claiming that all their vans come with X add on and they can’t take it off.

I would ask them before you make your offer what all fees you should expect. And have them explain them to you if you don’t understand. If there are any “fluff” fees negotiate them away before you make your offer or just take them into account when you make your offer….ie $our predetermined offer – “fluff fees” = the offer we make. Then make your offer for the van if you are comfortable.

If you are doing it by email just ask for a full break down line by line for a OTD price. Then you can work on any fees you see in their offer. If you get multiple bids you will start to see what the true fees are and which ones are fluff.

Good luck! AND have fun!

Bought an Ody EX (cloth) in Tulsa, OK by micman123

This forum has been a great source of information. I just bought an Ody EX (cloth) from Don Carlton Honda for $26,000 out the door (incl. destination and fees) + I got them to throw in the cargo tray I wanted. I explained to our sales rep that we were looking today and that I was planning on emailing a number of dealers for price quotes. He couldn't match the lowest price I'd seen on the boards but the above deal is what I asked for and received. Probably could've gotten a better deal by a few hundred dollars if I'd contacted the other dealers in a 2 hr radius but I really didn't want to mess with it and they had my wife's first color choice. Our sales rep was straight forward with no pressure, no games from him or the business manager and the whole process only took about 2 hours including us looking at different vans on the lot. Definitely a good car buying experience.

Also, 2 dealers confirmed to me that the 2.9 36mo/4.9 48-60mo financing that Honda currently has would continue past 07/05/07 but I have no idea how long it will continue.

Best of luck to those of you still shopping and thank you to everyone that has posted their buying experience here to help others.

tavi -

sounds about right. I made a deal on one today in NJ for 27500, excluding tax, title and tags.

Your deal seems about $300 cheaper, and I struggled to get he deal I made. I think you're golden.

Hi, I was just reading your post and have a very similar situation. How did everything work out? We are looking at the same vehicle and need some advice. Thanks

I live in Sacramento, CA and made our purchase in Alhambra, CA, (450 miles south). Do not go unless you have the deal in writing. I had a real hard time getting the dealer to send me a fax with the specifics of the deal, but once I had it in writing, I hopped on a Southwest flight, arrived at the dealership, and everything went smooth. They did not try and bait and switch me or anything. I would have been very nervous, however, if I did not have a deal in writing.

Your results may vary, of course, but I would do it again - if the deals out of town save enough money to allow you to justify the time, go for it.

Good luck.

We just purchased an LX here in Boulder, CO. I think we got a pretty fair price, but the sales tax just kills us out here.

Price: 22,912 (incl all fees, dest, etc)
Options: 1,406 (full towing package, roof rack)
Tax: 2,006 (our sales tax is a ridiculous 8.25%)
---
OTD: 26,324

greenjdc,

According for the Consumer Reports Price Service (I checked it this morning) for the Odyssey there are currently no dealer incentives or rebates available. Yesterday a local dealer confirmed however, that the low financing rates (2.9% up to 36 months and 4.9% for up to 60 months) have been extended until September 4th.

If there is a change noted on Consumer Reports, I will post it here. I hope this helps.
