I am hoping to purchase an EXL in the next couple of days in northern NJ. it seems from this forum that a base price of 27,000 is about as good as it gets, and after adding taxes, title, and fees, it comes to an out the door cost of approx. 29,750. does this sound correct? Thanks

Just bought a EX-L No DVD and No NAV in Chamblee, GA.
Here is what I paid:
MSRP: $32185 (Includes $495 for mud guards and pin stripes)
Invoice: $28833 (Saw the Dealers wash out sheet)
Base Price: $26159
Freight: $595
Dealer Fee: $487
Secure Etch: $199 (Dealer is in a African part of town, so theft is high)
Subtotal before TTL: $27440
GA Tax (7%):1920.80
Tag: $21
OTD Price: $29381.80
Hold Back: $633 (According to Dealer's Wash out sheet, I took a sneak peak while the sales guy was away from the desk)
Dealer Incentive: $750
Dealer Profit: $ Zero
Thanks to everyone in this forum. I used the email approach. Had all the paperwork waiting on me, was in and out in 45 minutes. Best car buying experience ever. (Spent most of the time having the sales rep show me all the gadgets on the van)
Good Luck with your purchase.

So you bought a new 2007 LX in Atlanta for $22,000? We are buying a van in 2 days and have an opp to buy a new 2006 LX for $21,999. This place in MI said that they just "found" this 2006 in the back of their dealership.
Add a roof rack and cross bars installed for $366.25, document fees of $180 and without tax you have $22,545.25. Is this a good deal?

First can I say thank you for rickindallas for his information on calculating dealers cost at #15453. I was feeling so sorry for them not making any money. Now I feel good about making a lower offer. We are buying a van this week in IN and are considering a 2007 EX. After we make our offer for the vehicle when we walk in (we are working with a guy), what extra costs should we prepared to deal with if we do not offer an OTD price?

You might do slightly better (on the price of the vehicle) if you finance through the dealer (where they can make up the difference and then some).

Of course, but I wasn't sure she bought a new 2007 because of the title lease new or buy used.

Don’t feel sorry. They are adults and savvy business people, they will turn down an offer they don’t want to do.

Just watch out for dealer “processing fee”, “conveyance fee”, “prep fee” etc. Also watch out for the dealer claiming that all their vans come with X add on and they can’t take it off.

I would ask them before you make your offer what all fees you should expect. And have them explain them to you if you don’t understand. If there are any “fluff” fees negotiate them away before you make your offer or just take them into account when you make your offer….ie $our predetermined offer – “fluff fees” = the offer we make. Then make your offer for the van if you are comfortable.

If you are doing it by email just ask for a full break down line by line for a OTD price. Then you can work on any fees you see in their offer. If you get multiple bids you will start to see what the true fees are and which ones are fluff.

Good luck! AND have fun!

Bought an Ody EX (cloth) in Tulsa, OK by micman123

This forum has been a great source of information. I just bought an Ody EX (cloth) from Don Carlton Honda for $26,000 out the door (incl. destination and fees) + I got them to throw in the cargo tray I wanted. I explained to our sales rep that we were looking today and that I was planning on emailing a number of dealers for price quotes. He couldn't match the lowest price I'd seen on the boards but the above deal is what I asked for and received. Probably could've gotten a better deal by a few hundred dollars if I'd contacted the other dealers in a 2 hr radius but I really didn't want to mess with it and they had my wife's first color choice. Our sales rep was straight forward with no pressure, no games from him or the business manager and the whole process only took about 2 hours including us looking at different vans on the lot. Definitely a good car buying experience.

Also, 2 dealers confirmed to me that the 2.9 36mo/4.9 48-60mo financing that Honda currently has would continue past 07/05/07 but I have no idea how long it will continue.

Best of luck to those of you still shopping and thank you to everyone that has posted their buying experience here to help others.
