Request internet quotes from Castle Honda in Skokie, Ohare Honda in Desplaines and McGrath Honda on Grand in the city. You should be able to get under 27K including destination for an EXL. (26700-26900) See my other posts for specific strategy. Additionally, your note "plus fee's" is vague. Do they include destination a fee? (595) When you request your quote, specificically ask for a Price that INCLUDES destination and that you the only additional prices shoudl be Tax, Title License. Additionally, a lot of people don't mention on these boards (or its an afterthought) if they have a trade in. If you get 26700 incl. destination on the EXL but get bent over by 1500+ on your trade it's not a great deal. Do your homework if you have a trade. Addtionally, the prices I note above should include the Honda APR financing if you qualify. You'll find dealers in IL that will play games with the "oh but that price is for cash add $750 for the financing. Just be VERY specific in what your looking for. There's tons of vans on the lots and 08's are coming IMHO you shouldn't pay a dime more than 26900 in IL including dest. for an EXL. (add TTL) good luck.

Dear odysseyfan1,

can you tell me which dealer you bought your EX at 25,400 in NC? I live in Raleigh, NC. I'd be very happy to get that deal. Thank you so much!

Don't waste your time going to Ourisman Honda of Laurel. I went there once to buy a Honda Odyssey based on the quote they had provided. The salesman promised they had the car that I asked for. When I went, they told me the car had been sold and asked me to see something else, typical 'bait and switch'. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

Try Sanford, Burlington first to get their prices, you might finally need to call them to show you are serious about the purchase. and then let the autopark match their price if they can otherwise u can always buy from sanford/burlington. Burlinton has a dealer president award and they reflect that in showing exact inventory/plus good salesmenship on their website, make sure they have your vehicle by talking to them and checking their website before u make the trip.

$750 dealer incentive - not applicable in all states by bugsnest

I learnt this the the hard way so just mentioning it here in case you are unaware of the "fine print" --

The $750 dealer incentive that most dealers in Chicago area appeare to be passing on are valid only in specific states. I live in Missouri and that is NOT one of the states that this would be valid in.

This is what I was told by OHare Honda that the incentive applies to only residents of states listed and it's NOT a nationwide promotion like some others are. So if I were to drive to Chicago and buy a car from O'Hare, my Missouri residency prevents me from getting this saving.

If you think this is not the case then please let me know. This caused us to alter our plans entirely!

dwelles,

Bought '07 ody ex-l from Herb Chambers for $27,700 (includes destination) + tax+tags back in March. There were no incentives at that time and this was considered a very good price. I have since seen prices down around $27,200 (w/o $750 incentive). We had received quotes from Boch Honda first and actually went to Boch, but they gave us a run around and wouldn't make the deal we wanted. HC deal was quick and easy - deal was made in about 30 minutes with almost no haggling and were able to drive off the lot with the car an hour later.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

New 2007 Odyssey EX-L Northern Virginia purchase experience by ahnjoan

Reply
I’m sorry this is more than a week old, only remembered because Edmunds keeps sending updates to the forum. We purchased the following on June 6, 2007 in northern Virginia.

2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L
Exterior – Silver (silver is in the name)
Interior – Grey
3rd row shades option

We walked out the door for slightly under $29,000.

$26,853.00 EX-L
$599.00 freight
$289.00 processing
$289.00 3rd row shades
$897.00 tax (3.2% - 3% for Virginia state sales, .2% for county)
$45.00 tags
$28,972 TOTAL

FYI – We purchased the 3rd row shades from the dealer because the instructions provided online say something like I would need to remove plastic panels and then punch a hole in sheet metal to attach. Working on an interior of a car isn’t my bag so we paid the dealer for that option. The other options we plan on getting are the cargo tray and the cross bars. We took the online pricing for both the cargo tray (somewhere around $100) and the cross bars (somewhere around $150) with us to the dealer and they couldn’t come close to the aforementioned online pricing.
We also were interested in the 120,000 mile, 8 year extended “HONDA CARE!!!” warranty. Online pricing for this was just over $1,000.00, and the finance guy also wasn’t able to meet the online pricing.

Hope this helps someone.

Another FYI – My process went like this.

1. One month before purchase I emailed all the dealers in and around DC.
2. They each responded with internet pricing
3. I re-emailed the three lowest bidders saying I would be in that night to anyone who could offer best and final pricing.
4. Not a single dealership bit to make any price change my calls days later didn’t produce any reductions.
5. A month later, on the 31st of May I ask the dealer with the best price could do better, they told me NO.
6. A week later I walked in to the dealership with the lowest original internet pricing, drove the car, checked it out for any problems, and then sat down at the table with my sales person. I asked him to give me a couple hundred more off and I would sign the papers. He left our table to talk to the manager and came back with the answer that he couldn’t give me any more off and he wouldn’t honor the original pricing I was offered online.
I immediately got up to leave, nobody stopped me, and so I drove home. About an hour later I called the internet sales manager furious that they wouldn’t honor the original pricing, even thought the quote I got a month before said it had a 3 or 4 day expiration. He asked me to come back and said they would honor the original pricing. I’d imagine if I waited things out a tad more I might have eventually gotten my additional 2 to 3 hundred off.

All in all, we love the van, but I must have spent over $1,000.00 in billable hours to purchase the van so in the long run it would have been better just to get the best price via e-mail and make a purchase.

There was one point that I was a bit shaky on when making the purchase. I feel like I made the right choice but just in case I didn’t someone here might be able to shed light on for others. They suggested purchasing the exterior paint protection and under body protection. Pressing really hard, saying things like “acid rain” and “hail damage” and “not covered by Honda”… In the end I opted out, but maybe others would suggest otherwise.

Good luck to all!

Thanks for the information. I am wondering if extra Honda Original clear Weather Mats are included in a standard package, i.e., a buyer can have them without an extra cost. Thanks.
