You may also want to check-out Norm Reeves Honda in West Covina. There is an asian lady in internet sales I dealt with in December. I traveled from the Phoenix, AZ area, no "surprises", very honest and I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone in Cali., AZ. or Nevada.

One has to work backwards, taking out the DMV and tax, then figuring out what they are charging for the accessories and the warranty. (I advise against the warranty--the probability is that the issuer will come out ahead.) Better if you report the price including destination + TTL. That way anyone can tell at a glance what you are paying. OTD prices are generally not helpful. You can compare prices for the accessories at some websites that sell OEM Honda add-ons. Look at previous posts for prices others have reported for extended warranties. Working your price backwards (NOT the best way to do it), I'll subtract $350 for estimated DMV and doc fees. Dividing the remainder of $37,150 by 1.085--guessing that your Bay Area tax rate is 8.5%--gives $34,240. The van you are buying has an invoice price of $32,013. The difference of $2,227 is what you're being charged for the accessories, warranty and dealer profit. Seems like there might be a few hundred bucks left on the table. Dealers love to confuse the issue by piling on the profitable goodies. The financing is a great deal--since 3.9% is right at the rate of inflation, the present value of all the future payments is the same as the purchase price today. Better idea: read Edmunds' "Strategies for Smart Car Buyers" from cover to cover. Then negotiate a price on a vehicle with no ups and no extras, via phone or email . You can get the accessories elsewhere for less. Best of luck! |

Purchased a new 2007 Odyssey LX from Park Honda in Akron Ohio a few weeks back with the 3.9% special financing for 60 months. Initially sent out e-mail requests for the best quote from about 8 local Honda Dealers via the Honda web-site. Wanted an LX with the Tow Package and Leather-wrapped steering wheel (towing 18' Checkmate ski boat). Within 2 days had initial quotes back. Sent out a second e-mail to all 8 dealers with the best price so far, asking for final quotes. The Internet Sales Manager at Park, provided the best second quote (almost $200 better than the best initial quote from another dealer). He was very helpful and good to work with. The price breakdown was: $23,132.00 for Base Odyssey LX including Destination ($568 below invoice) 1,059.00 for Tow Package (hitch, coolers, etc) 135.00 for Leather-wrapped steering wheel ---------- $24,326.00 total 250.00 for Doc Fee 1,658.88 for Ohio Sales Tax 25.50 for Tags ---------- $26,260.38 total Financed through Honda 482.44 monthly payment for 5 years Delivery/signing papers took less than 1 hour. Entire process took less than 2 weeks from start to finish (would have been faster if they had the vehicle in stock - had to dealer-trade for it). I recommend Park Honda if shopping for any Honda in the northeast Ohio area. Mike Pruitt Honda was a close second, and their Internet Sales Manager was very friendly and professional. Overall experience was very positive. |
