A one-year wait is W..A..Y..... T..O..O..... L..O..N..G.....! What a kick is right!

You must be like me, always getting in the wrong lines at the bank, supermarket, or warehouse club.

Me too. Went to the dealer to get OEM brake pads put on. Naturally they were out and put on aftermarket pads without calling me first (I could have gone to Midas 2 blocks away for that, with a lifetime warranty!).

Plus I'm also invisible -- can't get a waiter's attention anywhere; the Roadside Cafe is the worse

I stopped in at a couple dealerships in the Sacramento area (foothills) over the weekend, and test drove an Oddy. While we were waiting at the 1st dealer, I checked out the options catalog that included MSRPs. The first dealer didn't have any to test drive, and on we went to another dealer. Second dealer was selling at MSRP, but certain options were mandatory and, remembering a few of the options from the first dealership, I noted the options at the second dealership were really marked up. We test drove a GG Oddy, with leather, cassette, tow package, cross bars, and protective package. It's been on the lot for 3 weeks with over a 100 mi.-- if anyone's interested, he might be willing to deal. We made a half-hearted offer on another Oddy, different color and fewer options, but we were told that they expected to get asking price for that one. It had only been on the lot a couple days.

I'm not ready to buy until early July. Does anyone know were I could find MSRPs for the Oddy options? Edmunds notes they are all dealer installed and does not have pricing. I'd like to work from a known set of numbers.

Originally, I was set on buying the Sienna. But with four kids, cargo space is a prime consideration. We still might buy a Sienna as the second family car, but we need something with space if we expect to go on family vacations.

And it took about 5 weeks to get here. Paid MSRP less $180 ($26,840 less $180 = $26,660...plus taxes, etc which is a real bargain. Until recently the Odyssey were selling at MSRP and had been strictly MSRP since the introduction at 2 of the 4 dealers we visited. In March 1999, the waiting time was about 5 months. No pressure to buy any extra options. The Odyssey seats are much more comfortable for me than the seats in my 1999 Grand Caravan SE.
Went for a 20 mile ride in it tonight when odometer read 50 miles. The stereo quality was excellent with the factory installed stereo w/CD in the EX. I seriously doubt any discounted prices of any magnitude on the Odyssey for some time as it is a great bargain at MSRP. Other minivans need to have a LARGE discount off MSRP to be comparable to the value of either Odyssey LX or EX as MSRP.

I just took delivery of a GG Odyssey EX for MSRP (no options) from Robertson Palmdale Honda (60 miles north of Downtown LA). I dealt with the Internet Sales Manager, Jim Maze at saleshondascheap.com; 661-265-6000. No haggling, no pressure-tactics, just friendly, courteous service. It took a 15 minute phone call to initiate and finalize the deal.

I get the van in a week, plus for a fee of $125(to cover airfare back home).

Please do not paid $2000 over the MSRP to the local dealer. Cheers!
