I was quoted 27947 from Open Road Honda, NJ. I had already signed with another dealership in the mean time in NY and I used the online internet direct sales price to negotiate a cheaper price. Every dealer has the right to make a buck, but I could not see paying 2000.00 more. The dealership I went with claims that they will give you the cheaper quotes to get you into the store and then add higher fees or tell you the car they have has extras you need to pay for and it eventually works out to be the closest. I paid 50.00 for doc fess where I have sen others pay higher, so this is probably true. For 2006 Honda Odyssey EX Leather with DVD I received a price for 30,200 and lowered it by another 1000.00 with the NJ price. My advise is shop around and tell the dealers what the lowest price you received was and make the deal 2 to 3 days before the month ends when they need to push out the cars. Also if you are getting options see if they will do better on the options to get your business. I found all the options they showed me at http://www.bernardiparts.com (you can find other sites as well) but this site has the options nicely categorized and with the instructions so you can figure out what the markup is roughly about and if your handy if you can do it yourself. For example the Honda Splash Guards - Set of 4 where $295 installed at the dealer and $66.00 online to purchase. I can get them and install them easily. So find the dealership that you like in your area that may have a good reputation and present them with your best offer(figure out your min and maxm, start with min) at the end of the month, and be prepared to walk if you are not satisfied. Good luck.

Agree with Duper. You may be able to get another $200 out of them, but at the end of the day you are getting a great van at a great price. Looking through some of the old posts when the current generation Odyssey first came out, some folks were paying $2K OVER invoice.. I'd say you did just fine
You will love the van. It is a great vehicle.

Thank you, youngt. Did your $428/mo include taxes or not? I sent out a bunch of requests for a net quote, and one came back (so far) with the the following:
48 mo lease
15K miles per year (I did ask for 15K)
$479 per month INCLUDING TAX (which for me is 6.5%, i.e. ~$31/month)
I've asked them for what price this quote is based on, what the residual and money factor they are using, etc. I will post when I get this data. For now, I am not sure how it compares to yours, given the mileage and tax differences, unless yours included tax, in which case your deal blows my quote away.
P.S. How much extra should I expect to pay for 15K per month vs. 12K per month?

Thanks to all for the advice. I just got a call back from the dealer at the higher price, saying he can knock "several hundred" dollars off his price. I'm planning to go by and talk to him in person tomorrow. If he's just using this to get me in, I'll go to the first dealer and be done with it.

The residual will drop 2% when you go to the 15K/yr lease from 12K/yr..
If the MSRP is $35K, it will add a little over $700 to your total lease payments.... Or, about $20/mo.

Genester1 - I chose to pay all taxes and fees up front. My goal was to try and keep the payments as close to 400 as possible (even though I insisted we get the DVD player !)Tax rate was 8.65% which translated to just under $1,400. I also had to pay a "Acq Fee" of $595. I was suspicious of this fee only because it was easy to get the car at invoice. Who knows maybe I could have gotten out of this fee - this is my first time leasing a vehicle. There was no security deposit required either. The only negative experience I had was when the finance person tried to sell us Total Loss Protection (GAP Insurance). Not only is it included in all American Honda Leases it is required by NY Law !!!
For April the residuals for the Ex-l, Ex-lR, and EXL-RN was 60, 58, and 56 respectively. I am curious what they are for the month of May. Our salesguy said they dropped a point. I really wanted to wait 2 months but I was afraid with the 07 models coming that the residuals would drop even more!

KYFDX, thank you!
Here's the question: I have no intention of buying the car at the end. I will definitely need the 15K miles per year. Am I better off getting 12K per year, and then gambling on the dealer taking the car off my hands when the lease runs close to being done (buying it and selling it to the dealer as a condition of getting a new car from them), or should I bite the bullet and get the 15K?

Question about the May Lease Special

A newbie here...
My credit score is 687 and I was wondering if I should even bother to go to the local Honda dealer to see if they would give me the May special of $269/month lease for a 2006 Odyssey LX.
If I can't get a good deal on Odyssey I may have to settle for a Sienna or Quest.
Thanks for any help in advance.

I don't know about the finance, but I am in the Round Rock and have a price of $28790 for the EXL and 29,290 with the res....what are you getting as far as quotes? (both of these include the "appearance package", which they say they are charging $200 for.

Get the 15K/yr upfront..
9000 extra miles for $720... That is only $0.08 per mile...
If you know you are going to use the extra mileage, it is a no-brainer..
