Let them know you are serious and are looking for the best price on a Honda EX-L (you can either email them directly or through Honda.com. - Ask them to send a breakdown in costs and include ALL dealer fees. - Take the top two or three responses and then see which one gives you the best price. - When you go to the dealer, ensure that you bring the quote with you and that there are no additional fees. - Do not feel pressured to buy anything additional. You can always by extended warranties and accessories at a later date for much less (usually). - If you can wait until the end of month, some dealers are more willing to make a deal to move some inventory. - Invoice is a good benchmark as to how much you pay (you can find all the invoice prices here at Edmunds). You should be able to pay either under of close to invoice (including freight) for an 06 Odyssey. I definitely would not pay MSRP. I used this technique for my last three cars and have been very happy. The Odyssey EX-L I purchased one week ago (Hendrick Honda in Northern VA) I was able to buy at the end of the month for $590 under invoice (including freight). Good luck!

I want to share my purchasing experience getting an EX-L, since others doing so on this board was extremely helpful in our process. We purchased from Holmes Automotive in Des Moines, IA and they were great! I had submitted a few requests for bids, and gotten back numerous prices. The dealers here in Omaha, NE weren't coming down much, and so going a few miles down the road to save $1,000 looked like a good deal. The folks at Holmes basically asked what price they needed to "earn my business". I told them if they could do $27,500 we'd have a deal. That was it. They matched a doc fee of $50 from another dealer. When we got to the dealership there were no games or hidden items. We were literally in and out in less than an hour! Final price, $27,550 plus TTL. I would also highly recommend the Consumer Reports service. For $40, you get a 3 month subscription, which we easily made up for in the purchase. Getting quotes from online was also really helpful. The quotes from the local dealers weren't great. I'm guessing this is partially because they had my zip code and wanted to get me to come in. Well, good luck to everyone ready to make a purchase. The vehicle is great. Thanks again to everyone who posts on this board with helpful information.

Replying to: tom477 (May 09, 2006 3:59 pm) Your price is good. If it includes freight it is a little more than $200 under invoice. Not bad. You could try to wait until the end of the month. The great thing about VA is we have a 3.17% tax on vehicles. I was also able to get 5.7% financing through Honda (same rate as my local credit union). BTW, I love the Nighthawk Black. It looks really good. I just traded in a black car and decided to get a differnet color since it is so hard to keep clean. Good luck! |

Replying to: pjsjr (Apr 26, 2006 7:17 pm) Did you guys buy yet? Where did you wind up? How much did you pay? I have always found Schaller in New Britain to be good to deal with but I am open to new dealerships if the price and service are right. I am looking for a 2006 EX-L without RES and NAV. Thanks for your help.
