Hello all, Just wondering if the Odyssey dealer cash incentive is still in effect. Am preparing to purchase in Chicago area and have noticed that the latest newspaper ads don't seem to reflect this discounted pricing. Hope I didn't miss the boat! Thanks

I'm from Atlanta, following up on a listing from Breakaway Honda in Greenville, SC with an internet rep for an '06 Ody Touring R & N for $35,117 (includes destination fee), + add on $38 for T&T, $198 admin fee + $300 of sales tax the that Breakaway would collect. He says there are no dealer add ons. So OTD price would be 35,653.50 (and I'd then pay the rest of the sales tax -- $2158 -- to Fulton County). This is a much better deal than I'm getting around Atlanta. I already got a response from one of you (thank you!) that paying part of the sales tax to the dealer is not the usual order of things. The rep emailed me today that they'd like a credit card deposit to hold the car as part of the process. Is this what others buying out of state have done (I'd rather inspect the car first)? The rep also emailed me about his personal travails (a fire in his house, living in a hotel) that, while I completely empathize with these as very very stressful events, I'm not sure I'd cross boundaries and share with internet clients, if it was me. I'm feeling a little uneasy about this. Does it sound okay to you? How do you go about changing reps at a dealership, if such a thing is done? Thanks!

Sorry to continue to badger with questions. Has anybody actually bought an Ody through carsdirect.com? Many people use it for comparative pricing, but have you purchased through them? Any problems? They are giving better prices on the '06 Ody EX-L with DVD/Navi than in my area (Atlanta). I can do better than carsdirect.com outside of Georgia, but I'm having trouble nailing these deals down long distance. |

Replying to: luckydog6 (Apr 19, 2006 7:44 am) I showed Piazza an internet quote from Faulkner for $31,200. They said Faulkner is unbeatable and they could not match it. Piazza has a price match guarantee, however, the VIN of the Faulkner Ody did not match a RES+NAV. They also questioned whether the destination was included. They would not match the price and I settled for $32,000. I live only 10miles from Piazza and Faulkner is 1 hour away.

Replying to: listee (Apr 19, 2006 4:00 pm) I haven't used carsdirect but haven't heard anything unfavorable except that their prices are sometimes not the best. There might be a separate thread on them in the Smart Shopper section of this site. If all else fails, Ohio is not really all that far up I-75 and deals abound here. |

| Finally did the deal after many email quotes to dealers. Bankston Honda in Lewisville (DFW) came through and did 29,796 (including destination, sun roof deflector, wheel locks, cargo tray, tinted windows, and mats). All I had to do was pay the high TX tax (6.25) and take her home...They were great to deal with, did try to get them to match Bernardi 7yr/80k/0ded HondaCare Warranty for 800 which they wouldn't do. Overall it was our best car buying experience in a LONG time. | |
| Thanks for the tip. I was not able to get your email from the site but I did email DCH Paramus dealership but they have not gotten back to me. I'm at $27,750 w/ destination+protection package for an EX-L. I would still like to get a better deal but dealers have not been very quick to respond to emails. I'm hoping once it gets closer to the end of the month I'll start getting some better quotes but any other tips or pointers anyone could share would be greatly appreciated. | |

I dont know anyone has done this. - Pay the car with credit card/s. The dealer happy accepts 30 thousand something in credit card/s? Just say if I pay the whole thing with credit cards, or credit cards and check, or check only. Does the dealer give you addition discount for paying off the whole car?
