You can do much better than $1000 off MSRP although you may have to go outside of Northern VA. There have been some recent reports of good prices in PA. The same vehicle is readily available in Ohio (and elsewhere) for about $3500 less than you're talking about.

Well, I discovered that the $1000 off MSRP was no good on my own while gathering internet quotes. We ended up getting it for $36,844 plus taxes/title/etc - that's for the Touring with RES/Navi in the color we wanted. We got it from Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge, VA. The deal was fairly quick and mostly painless. We left the van at the dealership to get fully cleaned up and get the paint sealant package (I know, I know, but my wife wanted it) installed. We pick it up tonight. It did NOT have the humming sound complained about in several Ody threads. I'll report on the ownership experience more thoroughly later - we're driving to Delaware tmw for Easter and will be playing with our new Ody the whole way.

Just bought a Silver Pearl EXL w/RES & NAVI for $32000 in PA. Gave me Kelly Blue Book "excellent" trade-in value for my Accord.

As far as the humming is concerned, we didn't notice the noise during a 1/2 hour test drive. Low and behold while driving home from the dealship, the humming noise appeared at 2000 rpm.

I'm too impressed with the vehicle right now to get upset. Probably will join the complainers shortly.

EXL-R/N in Southern California by dartanyan

I think it is my turn to return the favor. I live in sunny Southern California, LA County. I have been watching this forum for a long time.
I picked up my Odyssey last Monday and share it with you all.
Ok, here my story goes. I won’t make all the details.

First I went to Honda website and requested quotes for EXL R/N from all 50 dealers in So. CA. They were exactly 50 within 100 miles radius.

Second, I got about 45 quotes, and picked the best quote (It was $31500 including only destination).

Third, To make deal simple, I estimated the total out the door price $34,098($31500 + 8.25%tax, did not add any other fees)

Fourth, I emailed them back saying that I want to pay OTD $34,000 for silver EXL R/N.
No games, No surprises. Whoever takes my offer first, I will be there it next day …… something like this…… Actually at first, I got greedy, and added a bunch of accessories ($2000 worth), then later I removed all the big ones.

Fifth, most of them emailed me back and could not do it. Some gave me their best offers. They said the number is unrealistic, but I just need one…. Fladeboe Honda, Irvine emailed me back and said they would do it, but they have to do dealer exchange for Silver color.

Sixth, I made one mistake here. I thought the deal has been already finished and sent them all the financial info. Salesman called me back and said it will cost $400 more, because the exchange will cost them $400. I would not know that is the truth or not. I think he knew that they got the best deal and could get more but it was still better than other dealers.

Final OTD price was $34400 with Mudguards, Cargo tray, wheel locks.
I think this method really work! You calculate the best deal, and let them compete.
You don’t have to go back and forth between two dealers.
It just took me 3 day to set the deal; 1. Request Quotes 2. Send my offer 3. Pick up
Of course, sending 50 emails twice was not easy, but it definitely worth it.
Good luck on your purchase!

Ex-L Olympia, WA, Seattle area's by courtenay

I will be buying the Ex-L in the next 3-4 months. It appears the prices are extremely high around the greater Pudget Sound area. What is a reasonable price to pay for a no frills EX-L. I've seen the prices bordering on 40k. The least I've seen is 33k. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, along with any dealer recommendations.

Just purchased an EX-L w DVD + RES at Lynnwood Honda for $32,561 + title/tax/license. I also got the cross bars for roof rack for $239 bringing the total to $32,800.

Earlier in the day, I walked out of Honda Seattle when they wouldn't go below $32,600. They were the first stop with most limited selection but were nice to deal with. Their first quote was $32,770 over the Internet. I'd do business with them again.

Second stop was Honda Bellevue - they pull the "we don't quote prices over the phone but will match any price" So, when I presented them with an opportunity to beat $32,600, they wouldn't do it. Their sales tactics were amateur - refusing to counter my offer, asking where I got "that" price, etc.... Gladly walked out of that store - after wasting 1 hour. So much for matching any price. I wouldn't waste my time with these guys in the future.

Lynnwood was very cool. Simply told them on the phone they had to beat $32,600 - they called back within 5 minutes and agreed. Paperwork was nearly complete upon arrival and we were out of there with van in about an hour...still had to listen to the "how about paint protection scheme" pitch but they were respectful when I declined all options. No hassle at Lynnwood. Good Experience.

All in all, you might be able to get an EX-L w/ DVD + NAV in Seattle for a little less but I'd be surprised if you can get one for under $32,000.

Best of luck!

A good offer on a no frills EX-L Odyssey would be somewhere around $28,650. This is $400 above invoice. No Navi, no DVD, the basic EX with Leather package.

No way should you pay anywhere near $33K for that. Heck, I paid under $32K for my EX-L Res&Nav (okay $31,998, but hey, it's under $32K ). You will probably strike a deal somewhere just below $29K for a "no frills EX-L".

Help...how much should I pay for EX-cloth? by mannydom

I appreciate any input. I'm in the Chicago area. First dealer quoted $25,500. Is that a decent number? If I remember, that is less than invoice at Edmund's.

$25,500 is a decent number, make sure they have added the destination charges, etc. If they have, I'd say go for it, it's about $600 below posted invoice.
