I live in TN and am shopping for an 06 EXL-RES. I have 23 quotes from dealers up and down the east coast. I am still waiting on a couple more. I have narrowed it down to a few and the ones in the running are Crystal Lake in IL, Hendrick in Charlotte, Hennessee in Woodstock, GA, and Hugh White in Columbus OH. These prices are well below invoice. It appears that Honda is offering extra money to dealers this month. I have been buying Hondas (lots of them) for more than 10 years and I have never seen this kind of pricing. But hats off to Honda, this pricing philosophy lets them discount the vehicles without the rebates that kill resale values. My local dealers have said they will beat these other prices, but I don't think I will give them the chance. Once finalized, I will post the best prices. Shop around - there are good deals out there!

I am about to purchase an EX-L. So far, I have received 14 offers from local dealers. I live in Chicago area. I am wondering if anyone in this forum was able to buy EX-L even cheaper at the dealer shop than the lowest offer via email from the same dealer. I think there may be still a room (at least $100) to negotiate the price when you walk in the dealer shop with the printed offer. thanks. |

Replying to: pusterracing (Apr 09, 2006 2:09 pm) I did a physical inspection (passed) skipped on the test drive (test drove touring on 3 occasions), Odometer reads 30 miles (they drove the ody from Corona to deliver, which is about 20 miles away) I'm fine with this. I offered $36,441 (incl. dest.) but they disclosed to me the dealer addons on the car (wheel lock, cargo tray, mud guard, door strip guard) for $440. My sales man and his partner really did their job professionally, I usually don't want the add ons and let them know about it, but the scenario is different. So, I have the price in writing I traded in my 04 Prius, Silver with Option#9 (navi and the works), Odo reads Now, I have the Ody I wanted for the price that I am willing to pay for and I protected my trade in value for my prius. Also, during the course of my research on the 06 ODY, Touring Black ext.on Black int. is hard to find, but if you can patiently wait the dealer can order it for you. |

Hi Everyone, I got a quote of 22860 + fees for an LX in the bay area with the standard options only. Does it look reasonable ? Thanks, |

Came home yesterday with an EX-L from Tempe Honda. Price was $28258 (invoice) and OTD was $31410. Taxes, registration, and doc fees are high here in AZ. That did include splash guards, door edge guards, and window tint. No trade. We had already test driven at Honda Cars of Mesa, which also treated us exceptionally well. They had given us a nearly identical offer but when it came time to decide they didn't have the car in stock, and we decided not to wait. After test driving and making up our minds what we wanted, we emailed six dealers and after some persistence got four legitimate offers. We dealt with them completely by phone and email, and only spent about 1-1/2 hours at the dealer doing a final test drive, paperwork, and making sure we knew how to operate the features. Excellent experience. Lot's of Odysseys to choose from right now in AZ. Thanks to all the other posters who helped us make informed negotiations |

Replying to: zebra5 (Apr 12, 2006 12:08 pm) So far, the quote difference between the highest and the lowest is about $1000. I would visit the lowest one first and see what they can do. btw, there is one dealer that says they will beat other's offer by $100. Their OTD quote is $636 more than the lowest OTD. Do you think they will still do the business by beating that by $100?

Replying to: java28 (Apr 12, 2006 2:12 pm) I had a similar promise from the dealer I purchased from "to beat - not just meet - the lowest offered price." With that in hand, I decided to visit them only after I first visited the dealer closest to my house. I think doing that gave more credence to my discussions with the second dealer, since I had maintained I would purchase that day only if I could meet my price target (which was $500 lower than my lowest email quote, and to match my trade-in offer I'd received from Carmax). Otherwise I was willing to wait. I suspect in a market with lots of Honda competition, they'd rather not see you walk off the lot. Good luck, and send me half the money you save. |
