Mowa: We did better in North Jersey - Paramus, to be exact. See post 12173 above. Lots of dealers eager to move inventory. A bit closer to you, Open Road Honda and Clinton Honda seem to be quite aggressive. Feel free to e-mail me for more details.

Yup..You are correct. Here in the NW it seems a difficult to negotiate. Let me know if you experience the humming sound. I would like to compare some notes.

Thanks.

Ok how did you get that price? Was that with a trade in? I asked about getting a deal like that and he said he would shake my hand and tell me good luck!

I finally bought the Odyssey 2006 EX with no dealer options in Baltimore/Washington Area. Just as is from the factory with 3 miles on it. Even no test drives. Below is the breakdown:

Date Purchased: April 10, 2006
Sale Price $24,889.57
Dest. Charge $550.00
Processing Fee $49.00
Sub Total: $25,488.57
Sales Tax (5%) $1,274.43
Title/Tags $227.00
Total Paid(OTD) $26,990.00

Buying Experience: I requested quotes from all local dealers, some gave me very good quotes right the first time and followed up with calls. Some tried to find out what others are quoting so they can match. They gave me their old Dealer Walk-in stories. This particular dealer gave me this price the very first day and when everyone else was trailing behind and trying to negotiate. I finally, gave him the business because he gave me his honest quote and tried to compete without haggling over price. I did not get any dealer appearance package but I did not care about that. Pretty much every one was willing to match the price for any one else, so the competition was very good and healthy for buyers.

It seems that dealers may be getting some factory Incentive because my sales receipt has a "/GAP" printed in the line for factory incentives. So watch out ! Not sure what this code means though.

Hope I have made a good deal. Please share your experience. So far I am satisfied with my purchase but it's just one night yet

By the way, initially I was in the market for Sienna but once I drove the Odyssey, decision was pretty easy. I will be updating my views in the comparison forum.

This forum has been very helpful and you all make the forum. So THANK YOU !

"Ok how did you get that price? Was that with a trade in? I asked about getting a deal like that and he said he would shake my hand and tell me good luck! "

Bear in mind, my price was on a EX-L R&N, not a touring.

$31,673 + $325 = $31,998

For Touring it would be...

$33,471 + $325 = $33,796

Touring R&N would be...

$35,448 + $325 = $35,773

Yes, I had a trade, but I negotiated the price on the Odyssey before I ever brought up the trade, then I also had in mind the lowest possible $$$ amount I would accept for my trade according to NADA, KBB and average retail asking price of local like vehicles (~75 miles) compiled through autotrader. Obviously the average retail price is not what you are going to get in trade, but it is a good indicator as to what the market will bear and what you can expect the dealership to be asking for your trade when they go to sell it. I just made sure they would have bargining room and and profit room when they went to sell it.

That seems like a good price. Was it thru internet sales? What was the actual price of car before tax, doc fee, freight fee? Any accessories? Did you have to do any negotiation? The best price I have seen in atlanta area is $30,400 which includes 7% tax, and everything. thanks in advance.

Looking for EXL-RES by tdr_honda

I live in TN and am shopping for an 06 EXL-RES. I have 23 quotes from dealers up and down the east coast. I am still waiting on a couple more. I have narrowed it down to a few and the ones in the running are Crystal Lake in IL, Hendrick in Charlotte, Hennessee in Woodstock, GA, and Hugh White in Columbus OH. These prices are well below invoice. It appears that Honda is offering extra money to dealers this month. I have been buying Hondas (lots of them) for more than 10 years and I have never seen this kind of pricing. But hats off to Honda, this pricing philosophy lets them discount the vehicles without the rebates that kill resale values. My local dealers have said they will beat these other prices, but I don't think I will give them the chance. Once finalized, I will post the best prices. Shop around - there are good deals out there!

Glad to hear that Hugh White in Columbus is on your list - bought my Touring R&N there (as well as some other Hondas) and always got a great deal.

I am about to purchase an EX-L. So far, I have received 14 offers from local dealers. I live in Chicago area. I am wondering if anyone in this forum was able to buy EX-L even cheaper at the dealer shop than the lowest offer via email from the same dealer.

I think there may be still a room (at least $100) to negotiate the price when you walk in the dealer shop with the printed offer.

thanks.
