Replying to: lingicer (Nov 11, 2005 7:01 am) My experience shopping in Albuquerque NM for an Odyssey EX-L. Garcia $30,345 Perfection $30,226 Credit Union $30,013 Fowler Honda in Oklahoma City $28,499 +ttl Maybe I could have pushed a little lower, but was happy with that. Add my one way ticket ($200 and $60 of gas) I saved 1300 over anyone in Albuquerque. In fact they all told my to just go there and get the car. So I did. Easiest 1300 I've ever made. Thanks Edmunds for the research. Made car buying much easier. |

Replying to: justcrashed (Nov 15, 2005 9:10 am) I took the offer from Diamond Bar Honda. Rented a car and drove down to LA. Took my family and friends to Universal Studios and Knott's Berry farm with the new car. It was a fun trip!

This special coverage sometimes offered by a lender pays the difference between what you owe and market value. I got it for the first time in my life as the $175 could save me several thousand should I need it. Sorry to hear about your misfortune but is sounds like it worked out for you and you got a fair price. I haven't checked incentives lately but seems there are many folks getting very close to invoice. We bought a Touring in mid-Sep and it was very difficult find the best bargain. Either they are high demand/scarce or dealers just think they can charge MSRP and wait. |

I just purchased an '06 EXL-RES for $28,696 plus cross bars for $188 and mud guards for $105 plus tax, license, and doc fee $55. But, I can't take much credit as this price was advertized in the Chicago Tribune last Friday. After reading the posts of others, I jumped on the deal. Until I got my hands on the keys I was worried the deal was too good to be true. I did email 10 other Honda dealers in the area to see if they could beat the price and no one wanted to touch it. I asked them why the "fire sale" and they simply said it was a volume sales issue. They actually have the ad posted in the waiting room. So, check out Grand Honda. Good experience except that I took my trade-in elsewhere as they made a laughable offer. Oh, they also beat e-loan for financing and gave me 4.94% for 66 months. |

Thanks to this forum I was able to get a deal for 06 ody ex-l res/nav (r&n) for 400 over invoice. Most of sf bay area dealers wanted 2-4 k over invoice for sage brush pearl. I just wish i did the email strategy much sooner. I spent 2 hrs negotiating at tracy and they insisted on a purchase price of 35.5k and low balled my trade in by 2k. Manager said that there's no way i could get my offer of 600 over invoice for a exl r-n in anywhere in northern cal. sorry to burst his bubble but honda at livermore gave me a price of 33k while a dealer in sacramento area offered 32173 plus kbb value for my trade in. total out the door for 34995.

I made it into the finance guy at the dealer after 9pm to have him present me with the following prepared packages to be added onto the cost of the LX: PREFERRED includes Hondacare -$1540, Vehicle Care -$520, Tire/Wheel Protection -$199, Gap Protection -$599, Appearance Protect -$695, Theft Protect -$329, Lojack -$695 VALUE: All the above except the Lojack BASIC: All above except Lojack and Theft Protection ECONOMY: All above except Lojack, Theft Protect, and Appearance Protection. Do I need any of these? I had anticipated purchasing the Hondacare at another dealership at a lower cost than the $1540 quoted but the finance guy said there has been a change since 9/1/05 where his warranty quote books considers a car used if the warranty is purchased after it leaves the lot and the warranty cost would then be higher. |
