It is perhaps the best policy to go in educated, be honest in that you can and should let a dealer know you're aware of their final cost to acquire a vehicle, what they are 'selling' for (i.e. Edmund's and elsewhere), and MSRP. Any creative tactics on behalf of the customer will be recognized by professional management as a bargaining tool and are fair game on our part. Are we supposed to just open our wallets and turn out heads? While I shed no tears I do feel hondadlr's pain. Not all car dealers are crooks nor are any retailer, they have a bad rap but still choose polyester and white patent leather shoes. Maybe more should seek fashion help along with reading more of Edmunds to improve image. We are privileged to be aware of profit margin with vehicles, ever try that with an appliance, or anything else for that matter? Let's do out part to respect them, providing it's a 'mutual' thing, I hope you understand. |

We know about your "hidden trade" that you were "going to sell yourself" too. Advise? Be upfront and honest and don't grind for the last possible cent. You will still get a great deal and both of us will leave happy. |

Have been reading here for quite awhile, just wanted to post my deal. We bought a 2006 Black exl- w/ RES and NAV for 32,700 (does not include sales tax, seperate in MO). This did include pin stripes and mud guards, we had been talking to almost all of the dealers but wanted a white one and couldn't find one, its funny because I did most of my querying through email, and didn't receive alot of attention. The one dealer that had the most instock (color wise) negotiated over the phone and agreed on a price and we went and looked and the wife liked the black better than the white so thats what we ended up with. The dealer was St. Louis Honda (Dave Mungenast automotive group). When we showed up everything went very smooth, no hassels signed papers and took the car. Might could have gotten a few hundred better if we had waited but it was only 150 of of our lowest price. Just thought I'd post and add to the database... PS, love the NAV.... |
