Thats sounds wonderful. Did this involve a trade-in by any chance?

Log on to edmunds.com send out a bunch of e-mails to different dealers in your area, when you start getting offers just start putting up the best offers against each other and they will start knocking down the prices. You can also fib a little and say hey the other dealer offered me the same and added a few options. A few options of your choice of course. You are getting a good deal when it drops to around $400 over factory invoice, anything below that your golden.

I understand people want the best deal all around. I understand people have the preconceived notion that all Auto dealers are less than honest. Is this a fair assumption? Does it make it right to lie to a dealer? Do you teach this?

In most cases a fair profit and a little work (without fibbing) on your part will get you the best deal.

Pssst! Hear that? It's a can of worms. Before this delves down into sub-terrainian discussion about dealer 'honesty' or lack thereof, it's heartwarming to see a dealer lament that consumers collectively are sharing their 'dirty negotiation tricks'. It's not pay back time but there is a grin on my face on behalf of others.

I don't advocate being dishonest any more than I support doing business with a dealer that does the same. It is perhaps the best policy to go in educated, be honest in that you can and should let a dealer know you're aware of their final cost to acquire a vehicle, what they are 'selling' for (i.e. Edmund's and elsewhere), and MSRP. Any creative tactics on behalf of the customer will be recognized by professional management as a bargaining tool and are fair game on our part. Are we supposed to just open our wallets and turn out heads? While I shed no tears I do feel hondadlr's pain. Not all car dealers are crooks nor are any retailer, they have a bad rap but still choose polyester and white patent leather shoes. Maybe more should seek fashion help along with reading more of Edmunds to improve image. We are privileged to be aware of profit margin with vehicles, ever try that with an appliance, or anything else for that matter? Let's do out part to respect them, providing it's a 'mutual' thing, I hope you understand.

I think a mistake has been made here. You are still asking if this is a "good" deal?

Ah...you better snap that one up before they realize their mistake!

Or, maybe the So. Calif market is even more ruined than I thought it was?

Let me see if I'm getting this...

You have a dealer who "says" they will sell you a NAVI/DVD Odyssey for below invoice with those accessories and you are STILL pitting dealers against each other?

I think you've been lowballed.

" You can also fib a little"

Nice.

Let me share a little secret...we know when our customers are lying to us and when this happens, we lose all respect for you.

We know about your "hidden trade" that you were "going to sell yourself" too.

Advise? Be upfront and honest and don't grind for the last possible cent. You will still get a great deal and both of us will leave happy.
