#4888 of 8223 snow driving
Dec 30, 2002 (5:31 am)
We have owned our 2001 MPV for a year now and it has been the best car purchase I have ever made. I want to thank all the posts in the Town Hall, it was the frank comments regarding this car and two others that finalized the decision to purchase the MPV.
Now I want to brag, we live in PA and were hit by the snow storm over Christmas - not the 3 to 4 feet but we did get 10". A lot of snow for this area. To make a long story short, the road problem was large quantities of snow blowing in and people getting stuck in the drifts. I drove into one of these situations and was forced to stop in a drifted area facing up a hill, I thought for sure I would be car #4 in the stuck lane - but not to be. When it was clear to move the van fish tailed a bit at first but than took right off up the hill!
I love my Mazda!
#4889 of 8223 How to remove factory MPV radio?
Dec 30, 2002 (11:16 am)
Can anyone tell me (or point me to directions on) how to remove the factory MPV (2001) radio? I bought the FM modulator for the XM SkiFi radio and need to figure out how to pull out the radio to attach the FM antenna and the power to the modulator.
Thanks in advance!

I recently test-drove a '03 MPV and got a brochure from the dealer. It doesn't have red as a color choice, and when I mentioned that to the salesman he confirmed it.

also doesn't list Red for the '03 MPV. Maybe they'll unveil something at one of the upcoming auto shows?

You first have to remove the plastic facing on the dash... by removing the two screws up in the dash cluster. Then, you (carefully) pop the dash facing off (lots of built-in clips). Cast that aside, carefully. Then, you unbolt the radio from it's mounting plates, and viola! you've got yourself a radio in your hands. Oh, disconnect the wiring and antenna from the rear.

Does anyone know any more about delays from the factory that were mentioned several posts ago? We ordered one the 2nd week of December, and dealer says "any day now."
rear step plate
side airbags/traction control
Anyone have any experience with the DVD system?
BTW, we used Sam's Club auto buyer program to find a great deal in the next state, only to use it as a bargaining tool with our local dealer to give us a low price. Haha!

Some manufactures including Mazda were having some mild delays due to the West Coast Dock situation clearing itself out.
That should not be an issue after a few more weeks. IMO.

Unbelievable!!! The van you described should be more than 26K+ in MSRP (24K+ invoice). How did you do it? Can you share the dealer info? Thanks.
#4896 of 8223 More on red
Dec 31, 2002 (4:29 pm)
They didn't offer red after the 01' model year.
What's funny is that a local Mazda dealer's website shows the MPV in red for new vans.
Maybe they are wishing too.

Someone with a new Red Vue reported that they got pulled out of a whole wolfpack of speeding cars, and it cost them something like $240. Be careful what you wish for
