Based on you list of pros and cons I don't see you wanted a Sienna. If I had a comparison list like that, I would have written the Sienna off and not bothered to make and offer.

I want to trade my Odyssey for a Sienna! by jetzzs

I have had a 2007 Odyssey for 2 years and wish I had bought a Sienna! A couple months after I bought it the breaks felt like there was air in the break lines. I finally took it in (I procrastinate because I hate dealing with service departments). They said they could not replicate the problem. I took it back the next day with fresh blueberry muffins and right away they got a mechanic to sit in it and pump the breaks. 10 seconds and he said order a new master cylinder and this is dangerous!

They put a new master cylinder and a new VSA modulator on. Another couple months and it started doing the same thing! I am taking it in next week again.

I bought this new car for two reasons: safety and reliability (so I wouldn't have to deal with the service department!).

From the Odyssey message boards I have heard that this break problem has been going on for years and they still haven't found a solution!

I would appreciate any comments on Sienna reliability and Toyota service departments.

I just loved the interior styling of the Sienna - so much that it was my driving force. I tried to "Sienna-up" my Ody interior by having the wood dash installed, but it's still not as refined or as luxurious as the Sienna. And, I loved how quiet the Sienna is. All in all I would have preferred the Sienna, but there were very few 09 or 10 Sienna's in town and the ones that I wanted (two 09 Demos, one with 5100 miles, the other with 15000 miles) were priced very high - the first at $34 (XLE Ltd with DVD) and the second at $36 (it was an XLE Ltd AWD). We made offers on both ($32 on both) and were turned down. From the research I've done on this site, neither offer, given the mileage, should have been insulting or not countered.... but we were not countered.

Anyhow, I guess my next one will be a Sienna!

I've had a 2007 Sienna for 2 years and I still love it (2007 XLE FWD)

It's the nicest car I'll probably ever own. We bought it over the Ody. It's the family car in our house- I'm going to do a deal on a new Rav4 tonight as our replacement for a 1999 Jetta commuter car- mostly based on driving the Sienna for 2 years and the repair costs on the VW.

IMHO, you won't regret the Sienna. I sure don't.

Anyone has an 8-passenger Sienna? I was wondering if it can comfortably seat 3 kids in the 2nd row, all in car seat/boosters, including an infant seat.

Terrible experience at Wilde Toyota by gmueller64

I bought a used SUV from Wilde Toyota and had the worst experience I have ever had buying a car. The car had a smell from the previous owners (smells like puke or milk gone bad) and they said they could remove the smell to our satisfaction by cleaning it. They cleaned it four times and the smell is still there. It is 6 months later. The smell was so bad at one point that we stopped driving the car for two months. They have since attempted to clean the carpet again (if it didn't work the first 4 times-it's not going to work on number 5). They continue to say they will do anything including have a salesman call me but he has never called. I have had this problem for 6 months and they refuse to do what is necessary to rectify the situation. Obviously it will cost them money. I was a loyal customer for over 10 years, but the continued run-around they have given me and now that they have completely stopped returning my calls ensures that I will never buy another car there ever again. I would not recommend anyone buying a used car at Wilde Toyota. Now I am stuck with a car that still smells and the prospect of having to sell it and find a new one. What a nightmare.

Hi...I just purchased an XLE in MA, MSRP: $31,390 for $27,200 (this does not include $100 for plate transfer , $300 doc fee or the mass 5% sales tax). I will be getting an additional $3500 off for my cash for clunker car. How does this deal sound? THX

I guess this is a close to barebone XLE without many options, but seems like you are getting about $1000 under invoice. If it is a 2010, that's a great deal.

that's a heal of a deal. Closest that I got was 28,500 on a 2010 and they really didn't seem like they were willing to go any lower on that. We're hoping that the incentives for the 2010 come out soon.

So how did you end up at that price? if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks - I didn't get any bells and whistles extras. It's a 2010.

I simply looked at some historical prices pd: http://www.carbuyingtips.com/cardeals/toyota.htm , knew there were some manufacturer incentives out there and asked a few of the local dealers to give me a best price. I knew when I had two quotes in the same ballpark that this price was achievable. I was going to wait until next year but the Toyota incentives are good through Aug 3, MA sales tax goes up from 5% to 6.25% Aug 1 and Uncle Sam will give me $3500 for my old SUV that's probably worth $1000 tops (I love my Uncle). Too many things breaking the right way not to pull the trigger.
