Pricing in OK by sooner_dave

Looking for any experiences dealing with Oklahoma City-area Toyota dealerships....suspect I will be dropping the hammer shortly on an Desert Sand Mica 08 Sienna LE w/QF (EVP2), EF (10.2 DVD), A0 (Extra Mile Pkg A)....pricing sites agree on MSRP of 29,119.

Edmunds TMV doesn't include EF (listed at 1125/1499 inv/ret on other sites). Invoice at other sites seems to be consistent at $25,871, $1K less if you take current customer cash rather than low APR financing. OK is considered in the Gulf Toyota region, which imposes an extra $55 destination charge over the base $685.

Edmunds generally projects target prices for Siennas at approx 3.8% over invoice: Using that as a base, invoice of $25,871, that leads me to guesstimate an Edmunds price of $26,854, which actually sounds just a bit high to me. That ends up giving the dealer $983 + 2% HB ($517) on the base MSRP, for a total of exactly $1,500 profit. I don't think I could find a dealer that would do a deal for $26,000, so a "middle of the road" number ends up being about $26,400 OTD. Even at that, $1,046 to the dealer sounds like I'm being pretty generous ($529 over inv + $517 HB). Thoughts?

(Note: I will be paying taxes and license fees in a separate transaction, not financed, so OTD price is my entire expense to the dealer. I mention that because some posters include tax and other charges in their OTD prices, which wouldn't be a proper comparison for me).

Would appreciate any feedback on experiences on Oklahoma Cita area Toyota dealerships, and thoughts about pricing strategy above.

Thanks,
soonerdave

Sienna vs. Odyssey Pricing by rorycalhoun

I have been looking at the Odyssey board and it looks like Honda is really dealing on the Honda's right now. Some people are getting a Odyssey EX-L for less than $27000 plus TTL. I talked with my local Toyota dealer and they will barely go below dealer invoice with the $1000 cash incentive on a Sienna. Has anyone had any luck getting a Sienna for $5k to $6k below MSRP? If not I might have to buy a Honda. I can't even get leather in a Sienna for $30,000.

It wasn't like that a year ago.

Last May the lowest price I saw on the EX-L was $29,052. And compared to the Sienna you gave up a trip computer, tow prep package, and crossbars.

Honda is truly dealing now.

Well, as we were browsing Siennas and Odysseys over the last weekend, I saw a lot more of the latter on the various lots we visited. We picked one Odyssey to test-drive from one dealer, and it had been sitting on the lot so long the battery was dead. We picked a different one - guess what - same thing. Dead battery. When we finally got to one that had a working battery, the fuel gauge needle was pointing clearly below the "E" mark, and when I pointed it out, the salesman said, "well we better take a short drive, then." No offer to go put in a couple of gallons of gas.

I realize one or two datapoints does not a trend make, but it was interesting to us that the whole "test drive experience" was much more favorable on the Sienna side than the Odyssey side...not to mention the fact that the Sienna "won" the informal "test drive" tryout both in my eyes and my wife's...

I am also getting an XLE with Arctic Frost Pearl. It does cost extra ($187) because they put an extra layer of paint, compared to the other colors, to get the "pearl", "shiny" look (this is what several dealers have told me". You can really tell the difference in the sunlight when you compare the Arctic Frost Pearl color in the XLE with the Plain White in the LE/CE model. Just curious, for your XLE are you getting the Stone Gray leather interior or the Taupe Tan leather interior? I like the Stone Gray color better but for our area (Phx, AZ), the Arctic Frost Pearls mostly come in Taupe so I will have to do a special order.

The elctrochromatic mirrors and memory seats can be added to the XLE with QN package if you add the "Convenience Package" - which includes color-keyed power folding, elctrochromatic, memory, heated outside mirrors with puddle lamps and turn-signal indicators, electrochromatic inside rearview mirror, power tilt/slide moonroof with sunshade, and 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat with 2-person memory function and 4-way front passenger power seat with height-adjustable headrests. The ability to add this Conv Package might vary due to your region.

Good Price on Sienna XLE? by tomfoolery1

Hi everyone! This is my first post on this forum, so go easy on me. I have been pricing out various dealers in the VA/MD area over the past week, and came up with this deal on a silver 2008 XLE with Option pkg #1, Fog Lamp pkg, floor mats & sill protectors, and 17" alloy wheels. I believe this is a pretty good price as it is w/o the $1000 rebate..knock off another $1000, and this comes to $26, 048. Tax, tags, etc adds another $2000 on the end price. We are picking it up this week, but wanted to know everyone's thought on this. Thanks for the help, and I look forward to talking more in this forum now that I am a Sienna owner.

gforce4,

Is this a Lease or a purchase?

If a purchase, you paid extra. I paid $25,292.91 for LE 7 Passenger package # 2.

Let us all know.
