I live in far northern Calif. Last year I was looking for an XLE AWD with option 18 (very hard to find). I tried about 15 dealers from Medford to Sacramento (phone calls and web sites). Finally I went to Costco.com and put in my specifications. I was called from Hanlee's Toyota in Davis. (They are the Costco dealer in N. Calif but you have to apply through the Costco web site). He gave me a great price over the phone which was even less than carsdirect. He said he didn't have one on the lot but if there was one in N. Calif. he would find it. He called me about a week later. One was located in the bay area. I drove 230 miles to Davis to pick it up - no hassle, no hard sell, in and out in about an hour.

I have VERY mixed emotions about the run flats and lack of a spare...but I'll reserve judgement for now. I knew going-in about them. Actually, I was amazed by one salesguy (at Toyota of Nashua) who not only didn't know the Sienna Ltd had them, he didn't know what it was!

I think you are referring to the tire low pressure icon. If you look at it now does the icon resemble a tire?

I live in Raleigh and have found that Fred Anderson Toyota isn't interested in discounting more than $500-$1000 off of MSRP. My last two Toyota purchases have been from The Autofinders buying service, but I don't think they will be able to come close to the Darcars deals. I have never purchased a car out of state. How did you handle taxes and plates? Did you drive up or fly - I've found one-way fares for undr $100 to DC or Baltimore but didn't know if the dealer would be willing to pick us up at the airport or how convenient it would be to get to their location from the airport.

Taxes and plates are not complicated. I think if you don't finance, then you don't pay any taxes but since I financed part of the cost to take advantage of the college grad rebate, they said they had to charge NC state tax that would be refunded in a week or two. Don't ask me why but the taxes paid are clearly stated on the paperwork so there's no concern about being asked to pay them twice.

They give you a 60 day temp plate and are supposed to mail me the paperwork that will be needed by NC to get the plate. I suspect I could already since they gave me a temporary registration but I'll just wait on the other stuff.

I drove, rented from Hertz for about $110. I drove directly to the dealership. It was about 300 miles. The Hertz return place (in Frederick) is just a couple miles away and the salesman took me over to drop it off. So, no, that's not a problem.

As far as being picked up at the Airport, you could probably get someone from the dealership to do that if you worked with one of the dealerships in DC. I found a good bit of difference between the internet dept of Darcars in Silver Spring and the one in Frederick. I would advise you to get up to Frederick if you could.

2005 XLE Package 7 in Bay Area by wystwyg

I just purchased a 2005 XLE with package 7 and floor mats in the sf bay area for $32,380 + fees and taxes. Anyone have any feedback on prices they have paid for a similar vehicle in this area?

Also, can one purchase a prepaid maintenance plan from out of state (similar to the extended warranty)? Any good quotes for the 4yr/55k plan?

Thanks
