#5520 of 12250 Rural Area = Higher Prices.
Mar 24, 2005 (12:01 pm)
I live in a rural area of West Tn. Been shopping a 2005, LE, Package 5 to replace my 1998 Sienna. Only about 6 Toyota dealers within 100 miles of my home. Mostly smaller volume dealers. These guys think $1,000 to $1,500 OVER invoice is the best deal they will consider. I go to Fitzmall and Darcars on the internet and they're selling Siennas for around $500 UNDER invoice. How do they do this? I wish I wasn't so far away from their dealerships. These local dealers just won't deal! I've tried the ploy of heading out the door and it just doesn't work with them. It's a take it or leave proposition with them. Most have only 2 or 3 Siennas in stock and most say they sell for window sticker price. Are Darcar and Fitzmall for real? Does anyone know of a dealer in my geographical area that will deal on a Sienna? Thanks.

Oh My Gosh!! I am so glad I took your advice and called BOCH. They are a lot cheaper than anyone else. I do have one question for you. What CT DMV did you go to with them??? Because we have not been to the dealership before, we have to drive there on Saturday to complete the paperwork and their employee is going to go follow us to a CT DMV.
THANK YOU< THANK YOU for such wonderful advice!!!!

I am so glad that you made the call. I was as shocked as you when they gave a price. We met at the Old Saybrook DMV, exit 66 off from 95. Check the DMV website to see all the locations. As far as I could tell Old Saybrook was the closest (about 1h 45m), although there may be one in the Norwich area, which might be the same distance if travelling directly west??? Not sure where you are.
Our appointment was at 1pm on a Sat., the place was packed. It took about an hour for initial paperwork, test drive, and estimate on trade. Than about another hour or so to wait for finance (we were 6th in line and 8 finance guys were working.) Then not quite an hour for the paper work in finance. If you go with kids, they do have a play room that is suitable for toddlers to about 6 or 7-lego table, vcr, and a few other gadget toys. I recommend bringing food/snacks with you, but they do have a vending machine.
Good Luck, if all goes well for you, you may have your Sienna on Wed. That was our time frame, bought Sat. received Wed.
Just reread yourpost, sounds like you are trying to buy and drive on Sat. We had hoped to do that, but couldn't, double check tomake sure that you can. Are you buying sight unseen? If so, consider calling the CT dmv to get tags before you go-not sure if you can, but saves a trip for them and you can go to the dmv of choice.

Which Darcars dealership did you get this deal at and what are the initials of the salesman, if you don't mind.

Nope, no initials of salespeople. NO identifying information, please. That violates the "no soliciting" spirit of our policy.

Read post #5502. It doesn't appear one needs any particular salesperson (or Darcars dealership for that matter). It's all internet pricing + their coupon.

I want to second the message from emonroe regarding Boch. I also recently finished a similar below invoice purchase of a sienna at Boch, and it was a great dealer experience, and almost too easy. If you know what you want go there and be ready to buy - they seem willing to do whatever is necessary to just move the vehicles.

Where is the internet coupon on the Darcars website? I think they've removed it.
