As far as I know, you have to first unlock the doors before you can activate opening of the sliding doors and/or rear hatch. However Dave you can reprogram the onboard ECU so that you open sliders/rear hatch by pressing ONCE the unlock button on the remote, instead of double-pressing it. BTW, we have an 04 XLE FWD. |

| Maybe pressing button twice is an OK thing. That way, if you are in a garage or tight space, remote doesn't accidentally open by getting pushed in a pocket or purse and open the rear hatch and bang it up. I have only had this van since yesterday afternoon but it is such an amazing vehicle. The sunroof is huge and I would recommend getting the factory DVD. I saw a few doen here that were "port" installed by dealers and they hang down real far...even though they are the same 7" screen. The factory one looks very flat to the roof. I also got it through package #5 (HF) which has (2) 115V outlets. These are so cool...I didn't realize until I got it they are just like the plugs in the house...WAY COOL. Does anyone know if the jacks on the left side by the 3rd row seats (looks like audio input jacks...maybe two audio and one video) are linked up to the DVD screen? Are they video/audio? I keep looking around from my drivers seat and it seems like Toyota tried to use every last bit of available space to put a door or compartment to hold something. I just let a guy at work drive it...he just got an Odyssey about 6-7 months ago...Needless to say, you can't compare the two. His face told me that. Get this van...you will absolutely love everything about it. By the way, in a previous post, somebody asked about brand of tires. I think it depends on which trim level you select. Mine has 17" wheels and the tires are Bridgestone Turanza's. | |
| I'd go for the 2002 CE with lowest miles. I'd pay someone you trust to do some window tinting if not done. If you want more room and flat back seats, you can't beat the 2000 Ody for $15K.-- 2 excellent vehicles though. Good luck. P.S.- I have a 2000 Sienna LE- great van but pretty small for my 6'3" frame- my wife loves the van though! | |
| I got our Sienna at James Toyota in Flemington. They were great to deal with. Good Luck!! | |

Hi, I just wanted to post my experience over the last week negotiating a deal for a new Sienna my parents purchased. Between my brother and parents and myself we have had five Toyotas and have been quite happy. We started at a dealer where my brother had recently bought a Camry. They were quoting MSRP, and maybe removing the destination charge. We then went and checked out the Nissan Quest, nice but a little cheap on the inside. The Nissan dealer quoted 200 over invoice. We then went to the Toyota Dealer that I bought both of my Camrys at and my dad and brother each had bought cars at. They stated they would remove the destination charge, I smiled and asked them to see what they could really do. They came back with 2500 off on any Sienna in stock. I then saw the owner and asked if he could do better, he agreed to take off 500 more. I told them we would think about it. Three days later we tried another dealer and they were willing to do 2300 off but we could order what we wanted. I then called the first toyota dealer and they quoted 3000 off of any Sienna in stock. Feeling lucky, I went back to the dealer that first offered 3000 off. They had an XLE FWD with package 14, Arctic Frost Paint, Sunroof Wind Deflector, Rear Spoiler, Running Boards, Auto-Dimming Mirror, Hood Protector, and Mats. The list was 35,542. I asked what more they could do on it or an order, the owner came back and stated that he would take off an additional 562 on the XLE. My parents bought it. They bought it for 31,980. We were very pleased. I know that these Siennas are in demand, but MSRP is nuts. When you include the 620 TDA, my parents ended up at about 500 over invoice. The Sienna is great, and while I liked the Quest's skyview roof and dual DVD option and second row folding seats, the quality and driving feel of the Sienna negated the Nissan's pluses. I do wish that my parents would have found a Sienna with the DVD, but given the amount saved, it is something they won't really miss. |

| bondguy1, you mentioned that the 115V outlets that are in package #5 with the limited are the same outlets in your home? So I can plug anything from home into it?? I'll be getting a 2004 Sienna XLE LTD with pkg #5 in about a week and a half. So excited! Trying to learn as much as I can about it before I get it. Keep learning new little "perks" that I didn't realize before! And you posted a question about some outlets, possibly audio/video outlets, wondering if they were tied into the DVD system. Did you ever find the answer to that? This is going to be the longest week and a half of my life waiting for my new van! | |
| Would love to talk to that dealer to get a new Sienna. (MSRP should stand for Mydealer's Suggested Ripoff Price). | |
