I'm in PA. I have a dealer in Wilks-Barr willing to sell me a Phantom Gray XLE #14 (GH) off of his existing allocation due to come in late September/early October. He has not said that he can make any changes, either in color or package. Can he do that? He's willing to go $1000 under MSRP. Will I really see delivery in late September/early October, or should I expect the 6 week delay I've heard about elsewhere? I've also been in contact with a dealer in Pittsburgh who will order me exactly what I want - Blue Mirage XLE #5 (CZ) at $1000 under MSRP with delivery set for Thanksgiving. Do you think that is realistic? On a side note, I found a web site for a fleet dealer that puts an order today at delivery at Christmas. (Of course, that's a fleet order and may not represent the general consumer) Any comments would be appreciated. TIA |

| We are not as priveledged as our American friends when it comes to disclosure of invoice prices. In earlier discussions it would appear if you take 8% off the MSRP you will have a reasonably close figure to work from. Although I don't have the base model I have driven one and found it to be a great ride. Just received a copy of Liesure from CAA and it has an article on tests of the Sienna by everyday people. They gave it high marks on all models. If you can get a copy from your CAA office it maybe worth reading. I have a XLE and I am very satisfied with it. Hope your not in an Access price area or may not find any discounts. In Ontario you can buy for under MRSP. Good luck. | |

I am new to this board and live in MA, as well Can you mention the name of the dealership in MA that gave you $900 off MSRP for a LE Package #7, or at least the city? It is the same one we are considering. Thanks a lot! Walbert |

Wantsienna, the times are reasonable. You might ask them to do what's known as an FRS request to change the color and package, however that may delay delivery if it is accepted. Myxplik, you may want to contact a dealer in Delaware or New Jersey as they will be getting package #14. I don't know about the New York area as they are in a different region than I am. Hope this helps. : ) Mackabee |

| Thanks for your reply Mackabee. I'll ask the dealer about an FRS. However, he gave me the impression that he wasn't willing to make any changes for fear of delaying his allocation. | |
| Eventually, we may have to factory order our Sienna the way we want it because Chicago dealers don't seem to order them with DVD's. With a 3-year-old in tow, we would love to have it equipped that way. We are destined to wait until spring. This will give Toyota time to work out the bugs (with the fuel tank) and maybe the supply will increase to the point where dealers will discount off MSRP. | |
| In reading all your posts on getting deals under msrp I feel bad that all I was able to negotiate was msrp for a salsa red awd le #4 with gold trim due in early to mid October. I don't understand these discounts as Edmund's, Toyota themselves, and several other internet resources say that msrp is the going rate. Also why would Toyota sell for less than msrp when there are almost none on the lots here in the Chicago area and demand is enormous. I think it would be helpful to know some detail about the trade in side of the equation, as that might be where some of the discount off msrp might be coming from. Or in the alternative maybe I'm just an I'm an easy sell. | |
| When I was shopping, I found this site very helpful. Although it's too late for me now, I thought that I would ask some questions that might help those still shopping. Most of the information that I used was about price and how to get the best deal. After ordering the vehicle (Sienna LE Package #7, ~$900 over invoice) and placing $1000 down in the first week of May, I have come to realize price is not the only variable. What I hadn't figured on was how long it would take to get the vehicle. (I was told eight weeks, but I am still waiting). I had, and still have, little understanding of the allocation system. It seems that there are multiple variables, what is being manufactured, what is being shipped to the region, and what the salesman is willing or able to explain. Is there a link where information about production schedules and allocations to regions is available? At the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, it has taken four months to move from position 8 to 1 on the waiting list. It is difficult to know how much of this problem is internal to the dealer, and I have no idea if this is a normal or abnormal rate of change. Is there publicly available information about what has been historically allocated to a dealer? In such a tight market, this information might help people decide where the best deal really is. Clearly, promises about delivery dates from dealers can be misleading at best, and additional information would be helpful in making a decision about where to buy. | |

I have the same frustration as phil412 and coloj. The only thing the dealers seem to know is MSRP and the “supply and demand” catch phrase. When I ask about the wait for what I am looking for (LE 8-Pass. Pckg#11) or whether they can get it, all I get is a list of what they have coming and a bunch of non-commitments. I get the feeling they cannot get what I want or they are hiding something. This is starting to leave a sour taste for Toyota with me. I am in southeast Michigan. I was willing to buy from Western NY at good % above invoice, but I was told that the list of vehicles Western NY can order from in September (which comes out a couple of days before the month) does not include LE 8 Pckg.# 11 but can only build pckg #1 or #4. I was told that Friday 29th. On the Toyota website where you can build your own vehicle, up to yesterday; the end of the month, I could build with pckg #11 using western NY zip code. Today 1st of September, pckg #11 is not available on the Toyota site, nor is pckg # 4! Why couldn’t I order Friday, I was still in August? If every month there is a new build list by region, then why is there a wait of more than one month? Why does one dealer in Michigan tell me that I should look on the Toyota site for vehicles available for my region and another dealer tells me I can order any vehicle I want? How can one navigate this maze? Is there a basic summary about the ins and outs of ordering, availability, allocations, builds by region and this whole chaotic mess Toyota is creating? If the dealers are lazy or ignorant to navigate it, why doesn’t Toyota make it available to the public to navigate for themselves? Thanks to everybody on this site for sharing their ideas and experiences. Well done Steve! |
