| OK folks, I thought I didn't get a decent deal because I don't trust car dealers here in Dallas at all, but I guess I did. I have a 2004 XLE FWD sand color with tan leather, Package 10, tow hitch, and carpets for $30,900 (not including taxes and tags). I think that's like 5.5% above their cost, not sure since there are so many hidden dollars going back and forth. Did I get a good deal? Car is supposedly here in exactly 2 weeks - they have it allocated to me. My wife and I are still not sure we want it. Does anyone want to buy this car in Dallas from this dealer? Seems silly to just let it go if I got a decent deal. I could just let someone else pick it up here - I don't care about overcharging for it. Seems to be a really nice vehicle, though. | |
| sbell4 - Thanks for your suggestion. I just want to see if anyone has a sunroof added at the port. | |

It sounds like you have a touch of buyer's remorse before the van even gets here. They'll be another van and another deal next week, and the week after, so don't feel bad about walking away. But you may want to wait and take the new one out for a nice long test drive before cancelling your order. Steve, Host |

| I ordered XLE with option package 14, even though we want a DVD. Initially, I wanted package 16 because it includes factory installed DVD. The sales person told me that very few, if any XLEs are built with package 16, and that I am much more likely to get XLE with package 14 sooner. The sales person also told me that there is no difference between port installed vs. factory installed DVD--equipment and cost are the same. He also told me that aftermarket DVD installation is less expensive for the same screen size, or you get a larger screen for the same price as the factory/port installed unit. Does any one have any experience/thoughts regarding this issue? | |

alyankee, the biggest issue will be the warranty. Any Toyota accessory is warranted for 3/36 if done at the time the vehicle is purchased or for 12months 12k miles if installed later. Aftermaket units normally have a 90 day parts and labor warranty, also if something happens to your electrical system that can be traced to the aftermarket unit, your factory warranty may be void. Think twice about this. : ) Mackabee |

I'll tell you why, if I'm not mistaken, the Sienna is being produced at a 70,000 run rate, and has to compete against the Ody, which has an ample supply. When the Ody came out, it was produced at a measely 30,000 run rate, and it had no serious foreign competition. So it's supply and demand at work. Curious if anyone has more exact production info on Ody and Sienna than I do, those numbers are based on something I read a long time ago, but the point stands that there is much better supply of good foreign minivans today than 4-5 years ago. |

| Toyota has already produced about 50000 Siennas with a yearly target of 150,000. I think Honda produces about 120,000 Odysseys now, but they were maxed out at 70,000 for a while, if I recall correctly. I am beginning to suspect that this is Honda's policy (ie. not produce enough to meet the demand). | |
| Any thoughts on purchasing an extended warranty for the 2004 Sienna. When I picked up my vehicle they offered me a 7 year, 100,000 mile extended warranty for $625. I still have a couple of days to decide. Any feedback would be appreciated. I plan on keeping the vehicle atleast 5 years. | |

But that price sounds good - the Honda extended warranties usually don't get any cheaper than ~$1,000. Things to ask include - is it a Toyota extended warranty or an aftermarket one. What things does it cover? Can I buy it in 3 years instead of today? Can I cancel it in 3 years and get some of my money back? Is it transferable if I sell the van? Check over in Smart Shopper for other warranty discussions too. And it's not really 7/100 since the factory warranty will cover you for the 3/36 initial period (not to mention the 5/60 powertrain warranty). Steve, Host |

Back in early June, I put in an order at a dealer in Houston for an XLE Limited. The internet sales manager set me up with a $1000 above invoice deal and quoted me a delivery of late July. I recently checked back with him (7/15) and he tells me that is still allocated to his delaership the way I specified, but there was no certainty in delivery now. Not sure what that means execpt that maybe Toyota is pulling rank on the order allocations. He tells me to keep checking back. In addition he says that Toyota is not taking orders on Siennas - probably to pump products onto dealer lots. Not sure if it is really a Toyota thing or a dealer thing. |
